Labor day not activating?

Okay so it's the 2nd of September right? I never time travel or cheat - I checked the event plaza to see and apparently there's meant to be some face cut out standees and Isabelle is supposed to be there handing out picnic baskets... Nothings there -.- I don't think the event has activated or something?
Can any please help? >.<

Not much is included with the Labor Day event aside from Isabelle in overalls and the cut out. She gives you a picnic basket too. If you want it, let me know. I have a spare I got from time traveling from her and I could easily give it to you for free.

Hehe, I won't be playing until noon, but I'm really excited for this event! I didn't know for sure if there was something happening or not. I'm glad to know something actually is going on!

You should be able to visit a North American town and get the picnic basket. I think it is a way for Nintendo to encourage intercontinental friendships
