"Ruin has come to our family..."
Notice: Mild horror/mature gothic themes will be used in this game. Nothing extreme, but may be somewhat unsettling for younger audiences.
If you're uncomfortable with that, let me know and I'll make accommodations.

Set-Up Information
"The bellows blast once again! The forge stands ready to make weapons of war."
Note: This is subject to change depending on feedback or player interest!
This game will use a variation of the Stack the Deck setup. Upon the start of Pre-Game, every player will receive their flavor and role alignment, but not their exact role. You will know if you are a Townie, Mafia Goon, or 1 Mafia Traitor (only exception to not knowing your exact role). The Traitor will know the identities of their teammates, but the other teammates will be unaware of the traitor's identity. The Traitor will not have control over the nightkill and the game will end in a Town victory if the Traitor is the only mafia remaining."The bellows blast once again! The forge stands ready to make weapons of war."
Note: This is subject to change depending on feedback or player interest!
During Pre-Game, mafia have 48 hours to select which (if any) of the modifications they want to their team. For each modification selected, the player will convert from a mafia good to the specific role. A maximum of three modifications may be selected.
- Bulletproof (immune to night kills)
- Role Cop (learns the exact role of target)
- Jack of all Trades (1-Shot Strongman, 1-Shot Ninja) (Bypasses anything preventing a nightkill, immune to trackers)
- 1-Shot Janitor (nightkill role is not revealed upon day start, role PM is revealed to janitor instead)
- Turn the Traitor into a Mafia Goon
- Goon Cop: (Receives either 'goon," "not goon," or "action failed" result, traitor is immune.)
- Roleblocker: (should target have a night action, it will be prevented. this includes nightkill!)
- Tracker: (see who your target visits during the night, should they have an action.)
- Bodyguard: (if your targeted player is nightkilled, you will die in their place)
- Vigilante: (choose a player at night to kill)
- 2-Shot Commuter: (should you be targeted by any action, it will fail. only works when activated, limited 2 uses)
- Innocent Child: (revealed as innocent at start of day one)
- At the beginning of the game all town aligned players receive a "Town Aligned" role. Once mafia has selected their abilities all of the Vanilla Townie/Power roles will go out. This prevents claims of "received roles before/after mafia modifications".
- No player may receive more than one role/modification, except if mafia chooses a 3rd ability over converting the traitor to goon.
- The mafia traitor may not receive any abilities if not recruited as well.
- Mafia will be provided "safe claims" for the flavor names to prevent speculation based on the theme. Flavor names have no bearing on assigned roles, they're purely meant for player enjoyment or immersement.
Voting Rules
"Hear ye, hear ye!"
This game will use Pluarlity-Majority elimination. The player that has the most votes by the end of the phase will be chosen as the elimination. However, if a player received a majority of the remaining player votes before the deadline, they will be immediately eliminated and the day phase will end. Should a majority occur, the night phase will remain 24 hours + the remaining hours of the real-time day (if the day was set to end on Thursday and the majority occured on Tuesday, then the next day would start on Wednesday instead)."Hear ye, hear ye!"
Votes will only be counted in the voting thread. To help me easily track who has voted, I ask each player to use the following format when casting a vote: VOTE: [Playername].
If two players are tied in votes by the deadline, one of the players will die in a coin toss.
Game Format - Technical Rules & Format

The rules within the spoiler contains information on Activity, PM'ing other players (don't do it), Time Cycles, etc. If you're experienced, you can glance over these.
PMs:
PMs and other out-of-thread communication are NOT allowed. If I am to find out anyone in the game is using out-of-thread communication, you will be modkilled without exception.
This also includes speaking about the game in the TBT Mafia Discord Channel, but I'll be a bit more mellow on this depending on what was said.
Activity:
You must contribute one substantial post at least once every full day/night cycle. This means that if you only make one post, it needs to be more substantial than simply saying "I agree" or "RIP". If you post multiple times, this rule may may be less strict. There may be exceptions to this if day/night phases progress rapidly at any stage in the game. If you're not sure where to start, feel free to send me a message and I can help explain anything.
Civility:
While Mafia is prone to become heated, I ask that you do not personally attack other players. Arguing about the game is acceptable, but there is a fine line between being rude and doing things strategic to the game. You're also expected not to post any vulgar language in the thread. TBT Mafia is not exempt from the Forum Rules and Guidelines. I will give you a warning privately if I find you're breaking this rule, but I will not hesitate to remove you for toxicity.
Replacements:
This game uses replacements. Replacements will be made up until the end of Night 2.
Time Cycle and Phases:
The game will generally follow a 48 hour day and 24 hour night cycle. If I am not online and available to post when a phase is set to end, the game will be paused until I can post. No actions will be accepted during this period. The final deadline will always be 5:00 PM CDT. (6:00 PM EDT)
I will post a timer countdown with each new phase to eliminate time zone confusion.
Day:
During Day, the town must choose someone to eliminated. Whomever has the most votes on them at the end of the day is eliminated. Day will always be 48 hours long, barring an early majority. Night will follow after the reveal post has been published by me.
Night:
During Night, you can send in night actions. Night always ends after 24 hours, regardless of when all actions are submitted, barring an early majority. This to prevent activity speculation as to who used what. The thread will be locked during the night, this is to give players a break from the constant chatter and to allow the mafia/PRs to prioritize their phase.

Cheating:
Cheating includes (but is not limited to):
1. Posting after death. You may have one polite goodbye post, but it may not contain any potentially game-changing information.
2. Ruining the game by doing something like handing out your mafia's member list to the town.
3. Logging on to someone else's account to get their role or looking over someone's shoulder to get their role.
4. Comparing role PM timings to try and work out roles.
5. Posting or sharing any PM you receive from a host without permission.
6. Getting yourself modkilled to help your team. Your non-majority-decided death may not be used as a bargaining chip.
7. Signing up more than once using alternate accounts.
8. Offering favours/items/bells outside of the game for a ingame information.
9. Sharing accounts with other players.
10. Breadcrumbing the specific phrasing of your role PM. Do not compare the phrasing in your role PM to prove your alignment. You can claim the abilities you have, but you can't use the specific phrasing of your role PM.
11. Posting a false PM phrased as if you received it from the host. You can still fake roleclaim, but you cannot make it look like you are posting a PM you received from the host.
YOU MAY ONLY COPY AND PASTE TEXT FOR USE AS EVIDENCE. POSTING SCREENSHOTS OR ANY OTHER NON-TEXT EVIDENCE IS CONSIDERED CHEATING. THE ONLY EXCEPTION IS EVIDENCE THAT IS PUBLICLY AVAILABLE FOR ALL PLAYERS TO CHECK (eg. post counts in a thread). IT IS BEST IF YOU CHECK WITH ME FIRST.
Cheating is not tolerated here as it ruins the game for everyone. The mods and admins here CAN take action.
Mod Font:
This is the mod color. It is reserved for the host. I will use this in response to questions or necessary information. Please do not use it.
Question Font:
This is the question color. Use it to ask the host questions about the rules in public. I reserve the right to deny any question that would reveal too much information. You can also PM me.
Spam:
Strategic spam is acceptable, within reason.
Editing:
Editing is not allowed for any reason.
Inappropriate posts:
Mafia games can get heated and emotional at times. Please keep it civil and remember that what happens in Mafia should stay in Mafia. Additionally, I will be reporting any posts I see that are over the line.
Surrendering:
Mafia will not be allowed to surrender unless they are the only member remaining and there is seemingly incriminating evidence on them. Beyond these conditions, you are expected to play the game until the end.
Observer's Chat:
While spectators will be fueling speculation, and dead players will be keen to give valuable "insight" into the game, please refrain from revealing game-changing information (eg. the identities of your fellow Mafia). Speculate, theorize and express bewilderment at dumb plays all you want, but remember that the chat is not leak-proof and game-ruining information CAN get out. I too will refrain from posting spoilers.
Encryption:
Don't create messages that are locked behind a code or secret message. I'm counting this as out of thread communication. Check with me in private if you need more details.
Play to win.
You should try your best to help your team win while you are alive and in the game. Clearly not playing towards your win objective will be grounds for a modkill. However, this does not mean that you should try to win by being a jerk to the other players so they all want to quit playing.
New players, if you haven't read the rules, please go back and do so.
To join, type /in or some varient in the thread.
Any experience welcomed!
