Is there a way to reverse updates

No, the game will lock you out of playing the game unless you update it. I learned that the hard way when playing Pokemon Shield. And it does it for all games IIRC.

I have read here one time that you could leave your Switch on airplane mode before the update comes out and that way you could keep playing the old version. But since you just got the game I don't see that working

that's what i heard. If you have a completely fresh switch pre console update and do not register an internet connection and do not update the game ppl have been exploiting the game with it.

What kindve glitches were at release date... im trying to do the exterior glitch but i might have to use an amiibo card..

im not sure. i have never used any glitches. my suggestion is do a google search and click setting to enter a specific time range if find the topic of choice.
