is anyone else experience JoyCon drifting?

Not yet, but this is super common for the Switch. I expect it to happen.

The Playstation Vita would have problems with the analog stick after a while. I actually replaced those myself by buying parts. I probably would try to fix the Joycons myself when/if it happens.

Usually I use my pro controllers since I can’t stand how the joycons feel in general but yea I’ve had small drift issues with my left joycon lately when trying to play AC in bed
As much as I love the switch the joycon sticks are sooo poorly designed it amazes me how Nintendo hasn’t revamped them by now

I didn’t have much drift. My analog inputs didn’t register. I would start walking and my character would start creeping even though I had my analog fully pointed at a direction. I had to get new joycons and I only had it for a year

Both of the controllers have drift. Left one has it worse though. It would drift upward and sometimes to the left, and it won't register downward movement all that well. Right joycon just likes drifting to the right. Calibrating them doesn't work, so I'm going to have to try out different methods. I'm kind of afraid to take things apart myself though, so might have to bare with it till the virus passes through and 'ol Ninty can repair it for me.

Omg I have and it’s been a nightmare collecting materials or star gazing :(

yes! my right one drifts like crazy and it's so annoying when i'm writing a letter or in inventory, and sometimes my left one drifts forward. i tried cleaning them, and the left one doesn't do it as often - but it doesn't help the right one.

It's actually a super common problem. You usually have to buy the repair kit to fix it yourself since the repair centers are closed. I had to buy a new pair altogether because someone stole my Switch a while ago and returned it in bad shape (one Joy Con drifted and the other was missing its joystick entirely, presumably to frustration). It sucks that Joy Cons are so expensive though...

it hasn't happened yet and i got my switch for the holidays in 2018, but with the amount of hours i've put into not only ACNH now but BOTW it's bound to happen sooner or later.

This happened to me when I was playing BOTW. What I did was take off the rubber cap, clean any debris under the cap or around the base of the controller and then reattach the cap by positioning a few of the nubs over the holes and then rubbing it hard over the circumference back and forth for a good 3 minutes until the other nubs went into place. You can look up tutorials on Youtube. This may not be your issue though, and it's hard to get the rubber cap back on (not technically difficult but tedious?). Do this at your own risk.

we got the switches in feb... started to notice the stagger running down after the first week of AC... cleaned and cleaned and cleaned... maybe get a half hour of use before it goes bad again to the point i cannot function at all with the left one. ordered a new pair(geee couldn't find any single left ones anywhere, i wonder why? /s) of lime green ones about a week ago now and hoping they arrive soon! we have the pro-controllers and so far my hubby hasn't had the drift. he tried to tell me it was over-use, i told him flat out, it's a product defect even if nintendo will not outright admit it, though they basically are with free repair/replacement/refunding previous repairs tactically saying it's their fault. i also pointed out cleaning it every half hour or so i was getting black residue on the q-tip meaning something is grinding and clogging it up under the cup-boot, not the inner contacts getting worn down or cleaning wouldn't work temp. i use mine hand-held a lot since my dock is connected to the main TV, usually only going on the TV while he's at work or after he's gone to bed. i haven't island hopped in about 2 weeks now, and gods forbid i encounter a hairy spider... lol

How long does it take typically for joycons to start drifting? I bought my ACNH switch on the launch date and I hope to get lots of use out of the pretty pastel joycons before they start messing up. c,:

yess my second pair just started drifting! 😭 the left joycon has gotten so bad that my character walks full speed when i'm not even touching the stick .. it's hard to move down on it, too :/ nintendo fix ur joycons

I bought my switch about 3 years ago and ~350 hours I had no problems. It has been pretty bad recently thanks to playing lots of New Horizons, but I would say 500 is reasonable unless you have games like Mario Party where people might be a little rough with them.

The problem is usually due to dust and debris building up so using compressed air and keeping it clean can go a long way.
