is anyone else experience JoyCon drifting?

yup mine started when i started playing acnh :( it's super annoying. my character is constantly running off by itself and it's hard for me to look up at the sky...i tried cleaning them like a YT video suggested and it worked for 2 days and i feel like it made it worse

I haven't had it on the switch joy con's to date but the pro controller I bought definitely does since day one. I need to get around to looking into the warranty for it.

The joy cons are very unreliable. BOTW really took a toll on mine. Buy a pro controller it will last longer, but if your hands are small it can be uncomfortable. Also, I know it’s hard right now, but check in with GameStop. Last summer I was able to trade in my old Switch for the newer version of the switch. It was less expensive than buying a set of new joy cons.

yeah my left one is also drifting and its super annoying. I will try to clean it today but if it gets worse I'll have to buy a replacement pair :(

My left one is drifting suuuper badly. Luckily i got the pro controller for my birthday last years january but still, its such a bummer. I'm waiting until i can 100% confirm that i can prevent the issue from happening until i decide to buy new ones. If anyones thinking of replacing drifting joycons with new joycons, id honestly recommend just getting a pro controller unless you do a lot of handheld

The amount of money I have missed from money rocks because of the drifting……… <_<

my joycon started drifting like a year ago, i got repairs when pokemon came out because the drift was horrible to deal with in pokemon menus. luckily they havent started drifting again. so annoying. at least i have cool colors for my joycons now

I haven't experienced joycon drift yet, but it will probably happen soon for me. As other people mentioned above, it is a very common problem, unfortunately.

My left joycon started to drift a week after I got ACNH. The method shown in the video linked earlier in this thread helps ease it for a while, but within a day or two it comes back, steadily getting more obnoxious until I do the method again.
I have the patience to do this over and over but at the same time I’m considering getting a pro controller, even though my playstyle is 50-50 split between handheld and docked(getting a spare joycon with wireless is looking to be more expensive than I thought...).

My left joycon has been getting worse and worse since I got it, to the point where I only use my switch docked now with a wired controller

I had the drifting on my launch switch/joy cons and got them repaired for free after warranty ran out a few month ago (I love Nintendo for that)

didn’t experience it since then yet, but I got the issue where on the left one I can’t go down really fast... guess calibrating in the settings should fix it though, mostly playing with my pro controller now anyways

havent

Both my right and left joycons started to drift not long after getting ACNH. My right one drifts right and my left one up.

Since the free Joycon repair service is shutdown due to Covid-19 I just ended up buying a new pair for now. I will send in my old ones once they open up for repairs again though.

I have a switch lite, the drift was so bad on my old switch that I ended up selling it, cant wait till the drift starts on this

been having joycon drift since late 2018-early 2019 , and it has been annoying for every game i try to play with the joycons , New Horizons couldn't be the exception.

oddly enough , the first days i started playing New Horizons the joycons would work without drift , but now the drift is so bad I can't do anything.

i have tried every method known to make the drift disappear , with no luck of the drift going away.

it ****ing sucks how nintendo sells you 100$ controllers just to start drifting because a little dust got into the joystick , worst nintendo controller.

i'm not having drift, but both joycons have started taking a couple ttries to register movement on occasion. I have to push the joycon or buttons twice before the game responds sometimes. It hasn't really been a problem, but it does make me paranoid that drift isn't far behind.

It is such a horrible issue. So much of acnh requires precision or else you end up taking so much longer. A couple of days ago I followed this video
and so far my joy con is working perfectly. It’s only been a couple days but I’m really hoping it lasts. I know you said you tried cleaning but maybe this video can help you out as well?
thanks!

I'm experiencing some input lag. Idk if it's my internet connection or a design flaw. My switch isn't that old only a month or less and I don't use it too often either.

My right joy con was drifting a while ago before New Horizon came out. I bought a new joy con to see if I could be able to use it and it did.
