I don't much care about a golden watering can as I'm not fond of gold roses, is there any other perk to 5-star? Because I got 3-star already, are there other unlocks?

I asked myself the same question as I was randomly dumping items and fences all over my island. Now, as I lay here, only thing I can think is how organic it felt making it to 3 and 4 star. Next time I fire up my Switch, I'm pulling all the randomness down, and working back organically. It may take longer, but the golden watering can and Jacob's Ladders can wait.

I've had 5 stars for about a week and gotten two Lily of the valleys (Jacob's ladders in past games)
They only spawn when you're at five stars so in my opinion it's worth it! Very cute little flowers

I'm working on it very very gradually. I started feeling a little burnt out, so for a couple days I played for less than an hour, not pressuring myself. For me that's how I've always played AC games - slowly and at my own pace. I think there's a lot of pressure now because we all started approximately at the same time so it's very easy to compare yourself to others. We need to be mindful of that and play however we like :)

I never found perfect town status to be that worth it. In New Leaf it would just happen anyway without me really trying. I might attempt to get it eventually but if any of the requirements conflict with how I want my town to be, I won't hesitate to bring my rating down once I have everything I need from 5 stars.

I think you should aim for it organically. I always focused on decorating, adding different fences that would fit the aesthetic I was going for etc. After some time I hit 5 star naturally. So I say don't rush, enjoy the game so you can be proud of your 5 star island. :D

How do you achieve the 5 star rating?
Right now I'm stuck at 3 stars.

It’s another milestone to tick off if you’re somewhat of a completionist! And like another user said it’s the only way for Jacobs ladders to spawn :)

I think it depends on the player.

If the town they want to build just happens to fit the requirements for a 5 star rating, then for them, it’ll be worth it no matter what the reward is. For then, building their perfect island is the reward and Jacobs ladders are another prize.

For others who want to natural look, it may be tougher to get that 5 star rating. I’ve heard a lot of points are given if you drop a ton of furniture around/fence a lot, which some people may not like. Going for the forest look is going to be harder if you’re also trying to get a 5 star rating. For those people, it may be better to buy Jacob’s ladders here once they have nothing else to buy and tons of bells to spare.

I'm going for a natural look so this may be difficult for me. I did get to 5 stars for about 2 days in this game. I had to overdevelop in ways that I disliked though to make Isabelle happy, but my Catalog is also still growing and I dislike having too many of the same items around town. Anyways, I had 5 stars for 2 days. I got my Golden Can and had a Lily of the Valley grow on the second day. I also purchased one from a user on here before I hit 5 stars on my island, because it's my favorite flower. So now I have two of them, and after cleaning up my island I am still at 4 stars even though I live in a forest which gives me hope! I didn't think I'd get to 5 stars which is why I overdeveloped in order to just get it over with because I made the assumption that it would be the only way I could accomplish that goal, but who knows, I'm already almost there and I love my slightly more natural town! So I agree that unless you're impatient like I am and want to rush the process, it would probably be better to slowly work towards it in a way that you like! I do still feel accomplished knowing that I did get at least one flower and that golden can on my own but it was so tedious!

it would be cool, but i'm not in a hurry about it, i'm literally just starting to move around cliffs (i don't tt) so it's kind of messy on the upper part of my island right now. might take a week or two to get from 4 to 5 stars.

a few questions if you guys don't mind answering;
1. does your town have to stay at a 5 star to continue getting these flowers?
2. do you get a nook miles achievement for achieving 5 stars?

I mostly worked on the part of the island we start in and managed to get up to 4 stars. Then I started expanding out but stayed at 4 stars because I had too many trees. I like having a ton of trees so I started chopping down some coconut trees to have more spacious areas on my beach. That worked, but was still at 4 stars because I had extra diys and turnips outside, so I cleaned those up and finally hit 5 stars.

I’m surprised how easy it was to get to 5 stars considering a lot of areas in my town still did not have anything displayed at the time, and everything I displayed on my island is there for a reason, not just filler to get to 5 stars.

I do it mostly for my villagers, I want them to be proud of our island. The gold can diy and Jacob’s ladders are also nice.
