iOS & Android App

I like the information given but I'm not really too keen on the design of the app. Frankly, it's a bit bare and doesn't really look very animal-crossing-like. Is it possible to use pictures from current or previous games on the app or would that be breaching copyright? Looks aside, it's a very useful guide for players. I await when more fantastic content is added!

I just downloaded it and its perfect for what I need to carry with me to work when I play on my lunch breaks. plus I don't have to mark up my guide.

I look forward to what you might add to it in the future. I'd like to see an artwork guide added, with fake vs real images. I found this blog entry which helps point out the differences between them: http://bidoofcrossing.tumblr.com/post/40664617166/crazy-redd

I second this!

I would also like to see a search function, if that's possible. :) Overall, it's a very useful app that runs smoothly and I look forward to future updates!

I'm currently working on another version of the app which adds more information about fish & bugs (such as the shadow size of the fish). It also makes it more clear which bugs & fish can be caught on the island all year long, to clear up some confusion people have been having. I hope to add sortable lists and possibly fossils to this version also.

There is one thing that I could do with some help about, though :) I've added quite a few images of bugs, fish & community projects to the app now, but the problem is I haven't caught that many bugs/fish and haven't unlocked many community projects, so I can't get images of a lot of them. For this reason, if you've caught something or unlocked a project which currently doesn't have an image in the app, I'd really appreciate it if you could send me an image of it.

For fish, you can do this by going into the in-game encyclopedia, finding the fish/bug and then taking a screenshot (with the 3D turned off) when it is shown on the top screen. You can then just PM me the image :) An image should look something like this: http://i.imgur.com/VGlrVWY.jpg

For projects, you can talk to Isabelle about projects, select the project and then take a screenshot with the 3D turned off. An image should look something like this: http://i.imgur.com/VZvAfTt.jpg

The quicker we get images for the rest the better it'll be for everyone :)

I really like the app. It's very well designed. I've have some free apps from the Play store that look awful but yours is in keeping with the Google apps. Well done :)

Keep up the good work!

Thank you :) I think an artwork guide would be very useful. Thanks for the link! I'll definitely add it to the list of things to do.

Beautiful app! The UI is well done and the page layouts for the individual items are really nice. I really can't wait to see the finishing touches, as well as other updates!

The only thing I have to add that others haven't already... would sortable lists be a possibility? The default sorting to alphabetical order is already much more helpful than the randomness of the official guide, but being able to sort by variables such as price or what's already been checked off would be an even greater benefit.

Keep up the great work, and if you plan on expanding the library of the app, I (and I'm sure many others) would be happy to help source images from the game's various catalogs.

I appreciate that :) Sortable lists is something I'm going to be adding into the next version (which I'm currently working on).

I downloaded it and I love it! Just what I needed, thanks :)

Glad you like it!

Just downloaded, seems to be pretty good, although as I don't have my guide just yet it's saddening to see how much I still have to catch. I thought I must be almost done with catching by now! Ah well, off to it!!!

Good luck!

I just downloaded! =D

It's looking good! I can't wait for the updates! ^_^

I can't wait to see the ideas you've all given me in the app :)

Thanks! I can see what you mean. The reason I kept away from making it more Animal Crossing-like is due to copyright reasons. The last thing we want is for the app to be removed from the app stores due to Nintendo making a complaint. So I did my best :)

any plans on a Windows Phone version?

Good question. I'll hopefully be releasing a BlackBerry version of the app shortly, but I'm not so sure about Windows Phone (due to the fact that I don't use Windows, or have a Windows Phone to test on). I'll look into it, but I think it'd take a lot of work.

Regarding this, I personally find it very streamlined and efficient, much better designed than a lot of apps out there. I can tell care was taken, so lack of theming seems irrelevant. However, without using Animal Crossing images and such for legal reasons, perhaps the issue Jarrad speaks of could be fixed by giving the app a different color scheme? More greens and browns to match the AC:NL logo might make it feel more appropriate without being completely blatant.

Can I assume that the catalogue images that you still need for the app are all ones currently not there due to the server sync? If so, that's amazingly helpful for helping, haha.

Much looking forward to the fossils! Images of those can actually be retrieved through the Nookling's shopping catalogue.

I'm glad you like the design :)

I see what you mean about the color scheme now. It's something to consider after I've added more of the features requested so far.

You are correct, the server syncs all data so anything without an image is something I need right now :)

Thanks for the info, didn't realize the images appeared in the shopping catalog. This will be very useful :)

Right now I'm working on the sortable lists a few people have requested. So far I have several methods of sorting:

Alphabetical (the default)
Sell Price (Ascending)
Sell Price (Descending)
Caught Status (Where the ones not caught appear at the top of the list, and the ones already caught are at the bottom)

Let me know if any of you think of other methods of sorting that would be useful :)

I have downloaded this app and am finding it very useful, but I would have to agree the app would be a lot more useful if you added museum donations as well so we can mark off what we have found already. Only need 18 more fish to catch for this month so I am not doing too bad.

I'll be submitting the iOS version (1.1.0) of the app to Apple as soon as Apple have approved the last update (which they still haven't done yet, ugh). The update will add the following:

- Ability to set things as "caught" by tapping the icon on the right in the list views
- Makes bugs & fish that can be caught on the island more visible
- A report button which allows incorrect information to be reported easily
- Sorting feature, allowing you to sort bugs & fish by name, sell price, if you've caught them yet & if they're rare
- Fish shadow size is now shown
- Full list of fossils now available in the app (and can be marked as found/not found)

Several of these features are available in the Android version right now. The full list will be available on the Android version very shortly.

This is just what i was looking for ty

Thanks :)

Very good! I'll try and add this shortly.

An issue I've noticed is that the fish and bug lists are incomplete. I've come across bugs and fish and when I go to log them they are no where to be seen.

I suspect you're using the iOS version of the app (or an outdated Android version of the app), and are talking about bugs & fish on the Island. The next iOS update will fix this, but basically the app shows bugs & fish in the months that they can be caught in your town. The next update will show the Island bugs & fish in all months, since you can catch them all year round on the Island (but only in certain months in your town).

As far as I'm aware there are no fish/bugs completely missing from the app now. I've checked everything with multiple sources and it should have all of the bugs & fish in the game.

Oh, can i include the TV guide there? I'll post it when i am done.

The next update for Android and iOS is quite a big one so I apologize for the delay in releasing it, but I've added quite a few things that people have been asking for. Future versions will add more of them too.

I appreciate your efforts to give back to the community. Thanks for the app!

Thanks for installing it :)

Downloading now. Thanks!

Thank you!

Feel free to post it, I'll try and fit it in somewhere when I get the chance :)

Great app! Thanks for making it free with ads or an optional payment for ad free, great way to make it accessible to everyone.

Are there any plans to add villagers birthday's to the calender like the prima guide?

Thanks :) That was the aim from the start, I want everyone to be able to use it.

Villagers birthdays on the calendar is a tricky issue to deal with. On the one hand I do want to put them on because people evidently want access to this information, but on the other hand I don't want to fill the calendar up with them (and thereby making the official events less noticeable on the calendar).

I've been thinking of ways around this. Right now the best idea I've come up with is selecting which neighbors you want to show up on the calendar (this way you could just have your own neighbors' birthdays on the calendar, rather than all neighbors in the game). I'd add a list of all of the neighbors into the app which you could browse through at any time, which gives more info about each of them. It'd be similar to eg. how the community projects is currently done right now in the app, but there'd be a button which you press to add their birthday to the events calendar.

Do you think this would be a good idea?
