If time travel were impossible, would you still play?

This is just a discussion. This would never happen for a few reasons. People move or travel, and you’d need to adjust your time zone accordingly. Also, you’d need to manually adjust your time for daylight savings. Changing the system clock is necessary sometimes.

I personally find Animal Crossing to be too slow paced for me otherwise. I do time travel, and I progress through things quite quickly. I think if it weren’t possible to time travel, I’d easily become bored and impatient with the game. I would go as far to say that I probably wouldn’t play the series anymore because of how slowly things would get for me. I know that’s a bit extreme, but I prefer faster paced games. You only have so much to do in a day on Animal Crossing.

If time travel were impossible, would you still play the game? Would you enjoy it less? This is more targeted towards people that do time travel. I know some people don’t, and that’s okay, too. Animal Crossing is a game we can play how we like, without judgement.

I used to time travel, but I play so much throughout the day, that if a certain visitor were on my island, I felt like I didn't get enough time with them. I also like playing a game that's the same time/day as the real world. It makes me feel more involved in the game.

I would not play if time travel was impossible. I order more than 10 furniture pieces everyday. I am constantly decorating places around my island so I need to be able to time travel to get these pieces at a fast pace. Waiting a whole day for the mail to deliver only 5 pieces a day is not something I can deal with.

i would, but it would hinder my enjoyment a bit. i often have to time travel day-by-day to catch up to present time after taking a break from the game, and not being able to do this would upset me slightly as i don’t like missing any days or dealing with the consequences of not playing for a while (bedhead, cockroaches, abundance of weeds, etc). i also occasionally time travel to kick a villager out after they’ve given me their photo so that i can go island hopping, so not being able to do that anymore would suck, too — it wouldn’t upset me as much as the former, but it’d definitely impact me. i love collecting villager photos and island hopping, but i hate waiting the 15 days for a villager to ask to leave in real-time, especially since its usually a villager i want to keep. >_<

tldr; i’d still play if time travel wasn’t a possibility, but it’d affect my enjoyment a bit.

I don't time travel often, but when I do, it's only one day at a time. Usually it's so I can get furniture that I've ordered from the catalogue. I don't like time-travelling multiple days because I don't want weeds or cockroaches, and I want to make sure I can talk to my villagers.

It's really convenient to be able to time travel, particularly to get furniture from the mail, but I don't think I'd mind too much if I wasn't able to do it! I'd probably just make sure I had as much furniture as possible in my storage so I wouldn't be waiting on furniture!

I don't time travel generally speaking, so I suppose it stands to reason that I'd probably still play if the feature became impossible.

But I'd probably respect the series a tad bit less for making itself more restrictive, particularly if they didn't supplement it with more things to do at night or on days when shops and things are closed.

I would still play because I never time travel. I love waiting for things in AC and it gets me excited the next day
I liked it better in NL and I think past games where things you ordered would come in at 5PM and 9AM AND you could order INFINITELY. So it was amazing. I love waiting for it!! <3 In the end I do not care if you TT or dont TT but I do not and it would not hinder my experience in the slightest

i never time travel, so, yes, i'd still play, and it wouldn't hinder my enjoyment of the game. it might be a bit of a problem with my sleeping schedule, since my in-game clock is already five hours between my actual time, but it's not a big deal. the only thing that really affects is turnips since i always miss the morning prices, but i've stopped buying them now for that exact reason anyway. if i run out of things to do, i just go and play a different game i.e. pokemon or dungeons. i don't feel the need to skip ahead days to 'force' more gameplay, if that makes sense.

To be honest? Probably not, haha. As someone who has an erratic but majorly busy schedule, sometimes I‘ll play for a few days straight and sometimes I’ll put down my game for weeks. It’d be impossible to catch up to events or seasons I’ve missed if time travel were impossible. I get that AC is something of a daily thing, but with my creativity coming in short bursts, having to force myself to do something every day IRL feels more like a chore to me. I want to put the game down for as long as I need to with the comfort of knowing I can just time travel back to see what I missed.

Like others I also take breaks often ranging from a few days to several months and depending on how long I've been gone I may go day by day or just skip to holidays and events to catch up. I also have a more erratic play schedule so sometimes I play in the morning, sometimes afternoon-ish, but most of the time later at night (9ish to early morning hours usually) and there basically nothing to do that late as shops are closed, villagers are asleep etc. So if time travel was not an option I think I would probably still play but both my enjoyment and playtime would be greatly decreased.

I think I would but in a more casual way. I don't play everyday and sometimes I go a long time without booting it up. Without time traveling there are things I would miss out on so there is less of a motivation for me to try to get certain things and build in certain ways.
I also think events would be different if time travel wasn't possible at all. Events would probably be a week or two long instead of a day or two.

Yes, easily. Even though I've TT'd in past games, I haven't in New Horizons and I have enjoyed it a lot more by doing so and have kept playing the game daily since it came out as a result. So I'd have no issue with not being able to TT in any of the past/present/future AC games.

I’d probably get bored of it faster because I’d have to wait until the next day to do more stuff so id probably switch to a different game and then won’t bother switching back because I know I’ll only be able to do stuff for like an hour or something and then have to switch back to the other game I’m playing.

Considering that I am not time traveling as much these days I would still play. Although it still would be annoying trying to order stuff from nook shopping and forcing to wait until tomorrow just to get the items. I hope in the next AC game they could make set like a timer of how long it takes for your items you order to arrive at your mailbox.

I would still play, but it would sucks lots to me. I time travel for missing events or when my schedule doesn't let me play at hours where shops are open/villagers are awake. I don't want to be glued to the console during halloween, christmas and such to be able to play the events instead of paying attention to my friends/family.
Outside events, I wouldn't mind it, with the time I have started to appreciate the day-to-day mechanic of the games. I like waiting for items I have ordered from the catalog, see which flowers have grown in a day, the daily shop items.... makes me excited for waking up the next day, specially now that I'm not on the best place

For sure. It would be a bit more of a frustrating game, though. It can be really annoying waiting like 2 weeks just to get your island completely re-structured the way you want it when you decide to move around houses and bridges and inclines and all that.

As a kid I time traveled all the time for some reason. As an adult though I can easily play without it and honestly prefer to play in real-time. It's more fun for me that way and the enjoyment of the game doesn't burn out as quick.

So not being able to time travel wouldn't bother me at all personally.

Yes, because I feel that the point of Animal Crossing is to take your time, and I would like to keep working on my towns/islands for years. ^^
