Hey. My name is Erin. I'm 18 years old (19 this Sunday) and I live in Western New York. I'm a student at the University at Buffalo. I study foreign (to me, at least) languages: French, Spanish, Russian, Swedish, etc. I'm here because I like Animal Crossing and I have ever since I got the Gamecube version for Christmas in 2002. If you want to know anything else, feel free to ask.

Oh, and here's what I looked like before I had glasses:

Welcome to the Bell Tree! I taught myself Japanese! Although I'm not totally fluent, I can get the gist of some conversations.

Thanks, everyone! These forums seem awesome, mostly because no one I know personally likes Animal Crossing >.<

Yeah, self-teaching is always a viable option. I started to read a "Russian for Beginners" book and now I can identify some words and sounds because I (sort of) know the alphabet. Learning Japanese scares me, I must admit. It's so different from anything I've ever learned! How did you go about teaching yourself?
