I didn’t think my bug nemesis this month would be the cicada shell

I got the Scarab, golden beetle, and literally every other bug, all the new fish, and most of the deep sea creatures and I still haven't found a cicada shell. It's pretty dumb that it's so rare, probably for sheer reason of the achievement which is probably at most 300 Nook Miles and two words for a bug that'll sell for ten bells.

The tick is to stop moving when they spot you. You know they've spotted you when they freeze up.

I've never seen the cicada shell or walking stick either! Thought it was just me, super weird since they are technically "common" bugs. I read online that unlike in NL for the cicada shell you now have to shake trees for it to appear, is that true?

Frankly, this is ridiculous.

Cicada shells are so common where I live, that we used to spend the summers just collecting them for no good reason. So...why exactly are they impossible to find in New Horizons? They should be all over the place. You want to explain to me why I can find 10 live cicadas after running around for five minutes. But I can't find a shell from one anywhere? That's entirely backwards. Lol.

I didn't even know it was a thing. Caught it a few nights ago; thought it was a beetle or something because since it was dark I couldn't see it clearly. Good to know it's hard to find and I got it out of the way though!

The cicada shell shows up so infrequently that for a second I couldn't figure out what it was when it finally spawned. I'd never seen it before and I haven't seen it again. I also only just caught the walking stick today, although that might because it's hard to see and I've likely scared off a bunch.

Nope. They're just sitting on trees.

Believe it or not, I've now got both the walking stick and the cicada shell (twice). My nemesis right now? The horned hercules... it's the last one I still need, then I've got all the creatures for July!

I got my first cicada shell last night. It definitely seems rare, which makes its paltry worth of 10 bells quite amusing. I think 10,000 bells makes more sense.

Spent hours on my island and on a few NMTs last night and early this morning looking for cicada shells, didn't see a single one. Got a second Giraffe Stag, at least.

The golden stag was my critter this month. I think I had caught 5 or 6 scarab beetles (makes a GREAT model, btw) before even sniffing the golden stag.

Got my first one last week on a mystery island at night. Got my second one a couple days ago on my island early in the morning. Saw a third this morning on a tree that I apparently should have terraformed some more space around before I tried to catch the shell.

Very rare so far. Cicada shell and the scarab beetle seem to be the white whales of the current bug crop.

Scarab beetle took forever. I need a giraffe stag now

I've found a few of them. They aren't too rare for me. The Horned Hercules was my bane this month, though. Spent 7 long days searching for several hours each day before I finally found one.

I found the cicada shell! By absolutely chance lol. I loaded up my game for the day and was starting to make my rounds and found it on one of my clump of trees before I got to close and made it disappear.

Now my only bug left is the giraffe stag.
