When you use the piggy bank it actually collects your bells. I think it's like a mini atm, as in it transfers your bells to the bank Also if you were to press "A" on the piggy bank while your wallet is empty, it doesn't make the 'coin' sound. Just thought I'd share!

Did anyone else know this? Am I the only one left in the dark? xD

From my understanding it is fairly well known, but it isn't stated anywhere in the game so I wouldn't be surprised if quite a few people hadn't heard of this. Also I remember reading somewhere that this only works on your piggy bank. If you give the piggy bank away to a villager and try to use it, or visit someone else's town and try to use their piggy bank I think the money simple disappears.

That's so cool! I'm really shocked that I didn't notice this sooner xD I never really thought much of it until now, since I only had 100 bells in my wallet when I used the piggy bank :3

Lol, I feel so slow xD I can't believe I'm just now noticing this! I own each and every AC game too (excluding Amiibo Festival). This is all very interesting. I should gift one of my villagers a piggy back just for fun

now that i think about it, i don't think it would have been that convenient for me lol...i'm a real perfectionist with some things and one of those things is my bank account. the money has to be a multiple of 100k (e.g. 200k bells, 1m bells) or else it rubs me the wrong way. and pressing A a hundred thousand times might start to get a bit ridiculous...

IT DOES NOT PUT YOUR BELLS IN THE ABD!!! I just tried putting 8 bells in the piggy bank and it disappeared. I went to my ABD in my house, and guess what? The 8 bells weren't there! It will NOT put the bells in your bank. Do not waste your bells in this. (even if it takes 1 bell each time) I hope I saved your 3 bells you were about to put into the piggy bank! xD

LOL! Your comment made me rolf XD Thanks for letting me know. Now I'm curious as to where the bells are being deposited. Maybe it's connected to Tom Nook or Reese's bank account <.<

Really, I swear I've put money into the piggy bank and the balance at the ABD increased by that amount.

Oh and the experiment, despite my memory disagreeing with this, no matter what I did e.g. placing money in increments of 1, 10, or 100, trying from different directions, picking the piggy bank up; none of the money has yet to make it into my account. I'm going to keep trying some more stuff like trying different rooms or putting the piggy bank on the floor, but I think it is safe to say that my memory needs to be checked and piggy bank is just a money black hole.

Oh darn! That sucks :'c It would have been a really cool/ cute feature if it were possible to deposit bells with the piggy bank. Based on majority of the comments, it seems that the piggy bank is indeed a black hole. In future AC games, I hope Nintendo adds more features like these regardless of the uselessness. Simple things such as this are always both amusing and surprising. Thank you for your amazing experiment despite Axel interrupting xD
