Ah... I think I spent 100 NMT to no avail trying to get a villager. I can't remember which one, I think it was Raymond. I gave up and did the campsite method and found him. I managed to get Dom the same way.;;
I LOVE mystery islands, but man...

... 600... and... then I quit and used the campsite method and got him in five tries! xD I did get two other accidental favorites though so that was nice!

Wooow congrats! Campsite method is my last resort. Im avoiding that for now coz it involves lot of time travelling. Im enjoying hopping to diff islands to see diff villagers so im ok for now <3

wait..could you explain about the campsite method?

Oh, sure! A quick rundown is that you have to be okay with time traveling and not have your target villager's personality on your island. (So, if I'm looking for Raymond, I can't have any smugs on my island.) You timetravel day by day to get villagers in your campsite. Here's the actual guide: https://docs.google.com/document/d/...Uhc-bcdZg1mhXgtRPg/edit#heading=h.zq88aqx9aef

1 - Watch YouTube while cycling to avoid going insane.
2 - Start early in the month: (May 10th) and save and exit.
3 - Time travel 6 days in the future (May 16th) and save and exit.
4 - Time travel to the next day, see if Isabelle announces a villager in the campsite. If not, close the game.
5 - Repeat until 4 until a villager is found. If not desired villager, return to 2.

I almost always got a villager on May 19th or May 24th, weirdly enough.

You have to have a villager of each personality type on your island EXCEPT for the one you're looking for. So hunting Raymond you want one of each except for smug. Then you have to be willing to timetravel. You have to TT a few days or so at a time and only stop and check if you have them at the campsite when Isabelle says there's one. <3 It's much quicker.

A week or so? I... I sorta forgot. It was mostly a blur of visiting islands, shaking trees and picking up the DIY after I see the villager isn't the one I want, and then going home defeated xD

Well today I was looking for a cute villager and spent about 40 tickets before finding Audie who I took in right away ;P

I've been pretty lucky to get Sherb less than 10 tickets and same with Zucker c:

Oh boy I think I’ve spent 30NMTs to find Judy. Honestly I think I was pretty lucky haha

I was on a quest to find Drago yesterday, but I dont have loads of expendable Nook Miles so when I saw Marcel on the 23rd island I went for him!

It took 60~80 for Stitches.
20~30 for Lolly and Judy (both I wanted but wasn’t specifically hunting for at the time)
100+ for a Chief... twice
250+ for Ketchup

Ketchup was my longest hunt by far especially when she was my last hunt (besides Chief). I even found Raymond before I found Ketchup.
Sherb for me showed up during my Chief hunt twice. I took him the second time as I couldn’t resist his cuteness.

I've never achieved my target villager while island hopping, but the most I've ever spent at a time was 86 NMT.

For me I’ve never really had a ‘target’ villager as on my previous playthroughs I’ve only ever really used them to enjoy the game and get villagers you could describe as aesthetic or popular or ones that I like or find cute however on this playthrough I’m going to aim to get particular villagers as I’m going for an all penguin island. So far I’ve been playing on this save for 3 days and I’ve got Roald and cube (Roald was my starter and cube was my lazy from the first 3) however I want them to have their actual homes so I’ll probably let them leave and find them on the island so they get their OG homes but considering I’m doing it all naturally I’m guessing it’s gonna take forever lol. The ones I wanna get are aurora, sprinkle, tex, boomer, Roald, cube, flo, Friga, hopper and wade. It took me 7 tickets to get cube. However before I reset it took me 49 tickets to get Skye 🙈 which wasn’t bad but considering there was about 20 different villagers I wanted and only got one in almost 50 tickets it wasn’t the best lol😂

I'm a little confused about how the campsite method works.

Even though I have Merengue, I ended up getting Sylvana, who is another Normal, at my campsite as potential villager number 7.

On the other hand, my partner's campsite gave the required Smug, and then afterwards, gave a Snooty, and then a Cranky?

The last time I went island hopping I wasn't looking for anyone in particular, but found Marshal on my 31st ticket and took him in.

Tomorrow I'm going to have an empty plot, and I'll be looking for Dom, Skye or any nice jock or female villager.

For my first few villagers I got lucky and spent less than 10 to find them. However, I spent about 100 for my last two villagers (cranky and snooty) but ended up with no one so I had two random move ins. I didn’t even have a specific villager in mind, just any decent cranky or snooty I wouldn’t mind to live on my island. After 100 tickets and SO MANY repeats (the cows, gorillas and hippos), I didn’t even find any and ended up with two randos I didn’t like. I was so frustrated that I decided to make an exception to my No TT rule and do the campsite trick to boot out the randos. Ended up with a few dreamies in the process. After that harrowing experience, I swore off NMT islands and decided I won’t let any villagers go unless a better camper naturally shows up in the campsite so I won’t have to deal with an empty plot that I have to fill in less than 24 hours through island hopping.

Forgot to say I also became so highly skeptical of the NMT islands process. I know the datamine says it rolls species first yada yada but there were just so many cows. And gorillas. And mice. And hippos. Which makes me question the entire thing. I think Nintendo is trying to push less popular villagers to people but don’t quote me because I’m probably just bitter about the entire thing. Lol. Tipper made me this way. I’m sorry. She just keeps showing up on the islands. Stalker.
