How many resets until you got a perfect map?

I wasn't really counting but it took me about 2-3 days to get my perfect town. So probably like 50 times? Idk it felt like a lot but its probably not that many XD

Took about a week. Apparently your town and mayor name affect the layout, so I picked a few names until I found one that had good map picks.

I know my first town and my deer town when the first corrupt both took over 100 resets. Deer town one was about 140 ish. I was very determined on a set layout and apples for them both.

My new town I actually got an amazing town 1st try, but because I love resetting and seeing different maps and villagers I passed it up and kept resetting. ~ I actually reset 50 times knowing even if a perfect map came up I'd still reset it. And then it took about 10 to get a pretty good map after that. Though I was nowhere near as fussy this time around.

Zero...mine town is one of the first 4 that Rover showed me. I love it and I would never reset my town!!!

I wonder if the date has anything to do with it. Maybe set the date back a couple days. At this point I would try anything. I know in Minecraft it gives you a different area depending on the time you start your world. Maybe it is something like that.

I didn't reset even once just to get "the perfect map", and I won't ever bother doing so simply because I can work around even with a terrible town layout.

It's probably done by seconds, that's what pokemon rng uses at any rate. It still probably more efficient to just keep resetting than to try and find a particular time the layout you want comes up and perfectly time it to get the same map each time. ~ assuming villagers / things outside of the river stay the same.
All the going to system settings and back would take too long for 1 attempt.

i've never had a perfect town layout. /sheds a single tear

anyone know how to find the perfect map before actually starting the process of resetting? like, is there some sort of list of all possible maps?

I didn't have a a clear vision of perfect map when I was reseting for a dream called map of Westport. I just wanted 2 big even pieces without river with tummy spasms, that's all. I think it took me about 2 days... Maybe 30 Rovers? Could be more, I am fairly patient with things like plotreset and stuff and I have a gf who also plays and can take over when I'm about to murder things in frustration.

When I first started the game, it was my first ever Animal Crossing game and I didn't even think of resetting my town map, I guess the one I have right now isn't too bad but I kind of wish I had a map with one of those islands that you need a wetsuit to get to. If I were to reset though I would probably spend so much time on getting the perfect map XD

All river layouts link

Chose how you want the river, and go from there.
Top half is east beach, bottom is west.
Left have rivers starting in the top corner of town, Right have the river starting lower down.
Each row has the end point in a different place.
And each column is a different route from start to end.

Re-tail/Town hall and the town tree all go in empty acres, so you can kinda plan that. Then just keep resetting until you find roughly what you want.
