Another person with all 8 here.
Up until yesterday, I had 2 normals (Bettina and Carrie), 2 lazies (Hornsby and Alfonso) and one of the rest (Cranky - Hopper, Peppy - Patty, Smug - Kidd, Snooty - Soleil, Sisterly - Deirdre, Jock - Antonio). Today Carrie is gone and I can go hunt for another villager.
I carefully moved villagers in/out to get to all 8 personalities and now I'm planning on keeping it that way. I don't often pick villagers on personality type as a first criteria (that's definitely looks of the villager and their home's interior design), but new villagers are supposed to either replace the personality types I have a 'spare' of, or the 1 villager that has the same personality type.
I'm afraid if I pick more similar personality types at the cost of others, dialogs with me but also interactions between villagers and between villagers and their environment may get very boring.

Oh, oops, I meant to put down Diana! But that reminds me how much I liked Fauna in New Leaf. So perhaps I will end up having two normals soon!
I've got 4 personality types. There are 5 lazies on my island and I'm planning to get one more. I may even get a lazy town if I feel like it. Guess I'm insane, then?

Are you trying to say that the dialogue in this game is interesting? For me, I like my villager's designs. The more interesting the theme, the better. The dialogue always gets repeated anyway so I focus on the aesthetics

I'm trying to say that having more than 3 of a personality type it just get's so repetitive lol. i have 3 normals atm an its hell

My current lineup has 3 smugs and I need to get down to 2. I ignore Tex pretty much all the time tho

Hey! My town is Number One! Well...at least for me...If you must know though I have Erik, Stitches, Lucky, Zucker and Clay. For a lazy town I might add Drago, Sherb, Cranston, and Punchy. Drago will be added regardless because he my best dragon.

I have a lot of Smug and Jock types on my island at the moment but I recently got Muffy and Pietro so I am not sure what they are
