How do you monitor your progress / keep your history in the game? Do you keep a journal? A calendar? Do you use one of those apps? Or you don’t track anything at all and just play?

I don't track anything... I wish I would have kept a diary since the beginning, now I feel like it won't make sense

I don't track anything, just play. I might start trying to at least track items, though. I keep buying things in the store, only to find multiple copies in my storage already.

I don’t do any tracking for bugs/fish/etc. because I like stumbling upon those as I play. My friends usually let me know if there‘s a bug or fish I’m missing before the season ends and I’ll go hunt it at their island since there’s a high chance it has a low spawn rate on my island (like the blue marlin that didn’t appear on my island with after using over 200 bait but I caught it in under 10 at a friend’s island). I used to keep a blog for early days but I got annoyed with uploading photos from my switch so it didn’t last long. Since I transferred all my images to my computer recently I might catch up on that again.

I use the ACNH mobile app for cataloging, VillagerDB to keep a list of missing DIYs, and I just received the guidebook so I've started checking things off in that :)

I only track my happiness level while playing the game. How much I smile or chuckle to myself sometimes. How many screenshots I take. How much fun I have watching and talking to my islanders. The little things matter. :giggle:

I have a journal I was totally planning to use, but I ended up getting super absorbed into the game and never used the journal. I kinda want to use it now, but I’m not sure how to start. Maybe I’ll end up using it as a scrapbook for my screenshots so I’ll be able to see the progress that way? Idk.

I also didn’t track. Actually, the reason I’m asking is because I am now having a hard time remembering which artwork I already donated to the museum and which I still don’t have. It’s a bit silly but I’m really missing the list outside the museum in NL. This got me wondering whether most people actually did track their progress or if they mostly winged it just like I did. Lol.

Oh I gotcha. For that I’d second the ACNH Guide app, here’s a couple screenshots of the museum stuff. It’s great for tracking progress.

I track bugs/fish/fossils using a spreadsheet. Other than that I'm not interested in tracking progress.

I tracked diys and art when I was collecting on a spreadsheet. I tracked the new fish and bugs for the month.

I have an island journal when I go looking for new villagers and for notes

I have a little paper notebook (with Tom Nook on the cover, haha), I use that to keep track of my villagers and friendship progress. I don't keep track of anything else tho.

I log some stuff on nookplaza, like the DIYs I know, the items I get from saharah/gulliver/kicks etc

I use the ACNH Guide app! I also just recently started an island journal here, which has been fun to compile! I don't have the patience to track everything but I find it useful for fossils, bugs/fish, art, collectibles like that!
Which version guide is the one you use? I think I might like to try it, but in the play store (android) there are several acnh guides.

The name is "ACNH Guide" and the icon looks like a brown book with a white leaf on it, with colorful tabs on a light green background!
Here's a picture:

I was planning on using a journal to track my island's progress with daily entries, villager move-ins/outs, and making monthly calendars. The typical bujo stuff. Now I just have a mess of screenshots on my Switch - no tracking at all!

I'll probably get back to my island journal thread soon and transform it into a photo journal once I've made more progress with the new layout.
