Mine isn't organized at all, although I do try to keep it free of junk. I'm pretty good at tossing/selling stuff I don't need, so it's usually prettu empty. I think it's super smart to keep your tools at the top though, I'm definitely going to try it out!

Tools on the top row, materials after the tools and stuff that I want to keep on the very bottom row from right to left. If I'm doing trades and my inventory is cluttered, I put those items on the bottom row from left to right.
I really tried but without the stylus from acnl, I can't stand the long-hold on the A button to drag the icons everywhere.
It'll start off organized and then at the end of the day because I had all my tools explode on me, it'll be just a chaotic mess.

I barely organise my inventory unless it's full tbh 
If I were to do so, I would put my tools in the top row, gifts to be given to villagers on the second row and materials on the third row.

It seems I'm one of the few who doesn't have their tools in the top row xD Mine are in the first/leftmost two columns (and go over the third too since I don't organize much and I have too many lmao). I think I just like the look of my inventory better this way (tools in the top row make it look super long).
As for the tool's order… there isn't, I just cram them all in there xD The only place they have a set order is on the tool ring since I use that all the friggin' time. So I don't mind their order in my pockets.
And about the rest of said pockets… they're just a big mess all the time :'D

I put all the tools plus a workbench in the top row and crafting materials, customization kits, medicine, etc in the bottom row. The two middle rows are for everything else.

I don’t mind the way my pockets look, I can easily access my tools~
My tools are always placed in the top left corner. While everything else I pick up, will just be randomly placed in any order. I'm not too particular, but I have a pretty bad tendency of leaving my pockets disorganized. I still surprise myself to this day, how I managed months ago with only having 20 spaces to fill. 
I keep my tools in the toprow. I don't know if it's my joycon drift or just comfort but I find the toolring doesn't work for me. I try to put tools in the order I most likely will use them. Daily rounds usually means the net and shovel are next to each other. Nets for catching wasps, shovel for stones, fossils and replanting new flowers. I usaully have a stone axe to gather wood and an axe to chop bell trees. I also have a pack of customization stuff and medicine at hand. The vaulting pole for convenient and sometimes flowers and fossils spawn in places I can only reach with the ladder.

the last 2 spots on the top are for medicine and costumization kits (sometimes the last 3 spots including fushing bait)
second row starts with a wand and maybe an extra shovel or watering can
then after those the stackable items you can pick up like sticks and rocks
and then just whatever, usually sorted furniture first and then clothing ^^
I need everything in its place lol, I hate when it's all random

tools top-ish, mostly everything's scrambled so sometimes i'll forget to sell something and itll sit in my inventory for awhile lol.
i always carry 2 shovels though.
and I have like 3 extra ladders and vault poles in my storage from forgetting to grab them before island hopping.

I feel like it's just faster if I don't care for the order and just get straight into the grind.
i keep my tools in the top left (shovel, fishing rod, net, axe, ladder, pole, slingshot, tambourine lol), and the rest is pretty free. i also often group similar stuff next to each other (my fossils all have to be together when i dig them up, all the shells i pick up should be side by side, etc.)
stuff i want to make sure i don’t sell (like bugs and fish i need to donate), i put in the bottom right corner where they have space

All of my tools are lined up on the top row and, sometimes, continues onto the second row if I need to bring an umbrella for rain. Then, if I decide that I'm going to haul crafting materials around, those will be the next things lined up, but usually I just keep those in storage until I need them and tend to just buy tools from Timmy & Tommy to save the hassle. Next in this order of priority would be any excess bags of 99,000 bells I might be carrying with me. After all of those will come any other items, like fish, bugs, seashells, clothes, or furniture.
