Not to say you have you to act a certain way at a certain age, but do you feel you're the equivalent to the stereotypical idea of someone your age, or do you feel younger or older?

I still feel like an outsider. I don’t think I’ll ever reach the “responsible adult” stage in my life. I try, but I’m still finding myself. Age is a number, I’m just trying to find myself.

I act (and look) younger than my age. It's not even that I'm immature necessarily as I'm usually very serious and responsible, but I'm not interested in things that most people my age are interested in, and I'm pretty naive. I'm also sensitive and shy in the way a child or pre-teen might be.

i dont know really. sometimes i act like a cranky old woman and feel like ive already wasted most of my life, and i guess with my experiences im able to take and understand more and ive had a therapist role with friends. but im also very naive and dependent on others. i also look younger.

when i was younger i thought people my age were all grown up and ready to be adults? but i've realized that it's not really the number of years you've been alive but more the experiences you've had that make you grow up faster or slower. some people my age Are grown up and mature now but i'm not and i think that's alright because everyone grows at their own pace. but also adulthood is kind of a "fake it til you make it" sort of deal it's not that you know immediately what to do it's just that you get better at hiding the fact that you're winging it

I feel and act younger than I am, but that’s mainly just me when I’m goofing off or stuff. I’m always going to have a sense of youthful enthusiasm in me, no matter how old I am. I am able to act serious and responsible like an adult when I need to be though, which is good. :)

I act so mature. And don’t hate me for this, but I get so disgusted when I see insane, immature people. I’m classy on my own, and I refuse to go on the insanity side. I like me the way I am.

I'm definitely more mature than I used to be, but concerning the things that I do in my free time and what I'm interested in, I may not be viewed as a 19 y.o. but rather the same person I was like 5-6 years ago. I've had the same interests since I was in middle school so that hasn't changed, and probably won't ever change. Plus, I'm quite naive, and even ignorant when it comes to social situations and how to deal with other people.

In terms of responsibility and maturity, yeah I would say I act my age. But not in any other aspect :p

I'm 27 in 2 weeks and I still look and act like I'm 20.

I'd argue I have a far more exciting life than most people my age though.

Not only do I not act my age (I still buy stuffed animals) but I've been told I don't look my age either. People assume I'm 16, and I'm sure being short doesn't help either. There are times when I tell myself 'you are an adult, you're not a teenager anymore' but other times it's hard to see myself as an adult.

i don't mind that i'm 26, i only mind that i'm not where i'd have liked to be by age 26

gj mog not reading the question!!! i'd say i act and look a lot younger than my age, not that i'm immature but my interests are usually the same as people in their early 20s or teens haha

(my age)

Hmm... this one is tough for me. Due to health issues & being disabled a lot of times I physically feel older than I actually am but I think more like a person younger than me. I've been told many times by people younger then me (teens & 20 somethings) that they thought I was their age by how young I think and my interests. I've never really focused on my age. lol! I've actually forgotten how old I am. The only time I really think about my age is when I join forums or places like Discord. I feel like if the other members knew my age they'd be like "Why is this old woman hanging out with a bunch of younger people? What is she trying to do - act younger than she is?".

I act younger than I actually am and I want it to stay that way. When it comes to being around my younger sister, I start making silly noises and pretend to be a pet dog (no, I?m not a furry before you ask). Having that mindset helps me not to stress out too much and take a break from reality for a while. When it comes to doing something important, I act as my current age. When I don?t need to, I revert to being like a child again. Acting older than I am makes me feel older than I should so I stray away from it.

i kinda feel like a 10 year old. since i'm super dumb, it just increases that feeling even more.

i definitely act and feel far younger than my physical age, i am actually pretty self-conscious about it, tbh ;v; most people guess i'm a lot younger than i am, and they say it's because my face looks young, but i'm sure my style of dress/actions play a part. people always say getting married or having kids makes you feel "grown-up", but since those things are likely not in my future, i feel like i'll be like this forever, lol ;-;

re: Valzed - i feel the same way about joining things too, like will people think i'm a creep or a weird person? i always worry about that...!

I'm married & have a son - it doesn't make me feel like I'm more grown up. I have a lot of responsibilities that come with being married/being a mom and I act my age to take care of my family but I still don't think or feel like a person my age.

That's how I feel exactly! I'm always worried about how the members of whatever it is will perceive me. I lurked on here for months before gathering the courage to join.

I said I act like my own age, but sometimes I act like I'm older. However, I'd say I typically act more my own age. I will say that I'm largely out of touch with my generation's trends though, which makes me seem like an old geezer. :p

I can relate to this so much!

This was actually a difficult poll for me because it depends. I'm a middle-aged woman and I often physically feel older than my age. I get aches and pains and I struggle with being physically active now. My own parents call me an old lady because if I go out somewhere and do anything I get exhausted. I need several days to stay at home and recuperate after a vacation. Of course, this is largely due to my social anxiety and needing a break from people, but it still makes me feel old. I've also always been mature and responsible. My parents said that I spoiled them because even as a toddler I looked out for my mom and helped her out so much.

But on the other hand, I've always looked young for my age. People often think I'm 5 to 10 years younger than my actual age. Plus my interests are more in line with young people. I still love fantasy, gaming, comics and anime after all these years and I don't think that will ever change.

I think I act about my age. There?s definitely things that I can improve on (like being more independent to live on my own, learning more about news around the world) but I think I?m pretty emotionally mature and know how to deal with people without annoying them and have good social awareness in general
