Obviously the furniture is circling, which i figured was mainly from hacks, but i'm seeing a ton of the new villagers on tumblr now too, and im curious how people are getting them. Are they using the Japanese cards? I wasn't sure that those were out, but would they even work with the NA system? Thanks. Im very excited to adopt Etoile as she is adorable.

Yep, they're using the Japanese cards, which work on other systems. Basically the card holds the ability to summon the villager - not the villager itself, if that makes sense. It knows what parts to ask the system for. So it won't summon a Japanese villager, it'll summon the correct villager in English or whatever else, because that's what your game is telling it to do. That's why you can visit towns in other languages and still understand all the villagers.

The update is supposedly anti-hack, and if it detects your game is hacked at all, it won't let you connect to the servers. The cards are supposed to come to the US on 12/2, but that's hearsay.

I bought my set of cards from a Japanese seller on EBay. They are very popular. As far as the Sanrio set coming out here on Dec 2nd, I'm not sure. I know the Welcome Amiibo set of fifty cards is dropping that day and contains resurrected villagers from past games.

I was able to pre-order the Sanrio cards on Nintendo UK's web shop (I looked else where too...) but they said it wouldn't be out until...the 24th of November I think, so I won't be getting them just yet. I think I'd rather wait than risk it but it seems likely that they are just using the Japanese cards...on another point though does that mean you can have Sanrio characters in your town?? :D

OK I got it wrong it says 25th

I have pre-ordred them though, I looked at the order information, not sent them yet but the wait is killing me.

I guess some could be using hacks but I know some people who have had their Japanese friends sending for them, others have bought them off eBay. I decided to wait and preorder mine as they're being released the end of this month here.
Can't find anything about release dates for the US, the 2nd is just for the welcome amiibo cards it seems

The owner of the cards can have the villagers move in, there's some in Japanese dream towns already. Don't think others can come and adopt them without owning the cards though

Yeah, can't find anything online about them coming to the US. I really wish we had news. :/

For example, my three friends and I split the cost of a full set of cards off Ebay. It was 50$, which comes to about 12 bucks each in order to use all six cards and guarantee have them! It can be pretty pricey but was worth it for us :)

I'm not sure why so many people think the items are hacked. People live in Japan. Shocking, I know. Cx

Once you have an Amiibo, you can Time Travel all you want to get the pieces you need. You can buy the pieces from other people. You can get your own cards on eBay. You can ask friends who live in Japan to buy you the cards (which I'm actually considering doing- the furniture is SO cute). You can even go through a shopping service. There are a LOT of ways to get these cards that do not require hacking (and the update kind of killed hacks to begin with, so there's that).

Edit: Derp, double posted.

There is no hacking going on here with these cards. You buy them, you use them, just like any of the other amiibo cards. Mine will be here tomorrow from Japan. Very excited! And again, the cards being released on Dec 2 are the Welcome Amiibo cards, not the special Sanrio set. These include the return of retired villagers from past games.

Does anyone know a reliable place where I can import these cards from Japan? As much as I want to hope that they will come over to the U.S., I'm not holding my breath.

I bought mine from a reliable ebay seller with excellent feedback and paid for EMS overseas shipping. That way, I can track every step of the way and it only takes 3-4 days to receive them after they ship. Bought them Monday, they shipped Tuesday and will be here tomorrow.

Jeez, I really wanna buy the cards off Ebay so I have whole set but ugh, those Ebay prices...

The eBay prices are way too high for me. I considered it, but they come over here in 2 weeks and they cost next to nothing.

Also, hacking is still very much a thing and it is very possible (from what I've seen) to get this special villagers in game via hacking. There are many groups and forums where hackers are welcome and I know some who have hacked them into their games in order to run adoption services. I don't know how as I don't know how it works to begin with, but it's certainly still possible it seems

They're also available for preorder at the Nintendo's UK shop for 5 pounds. I got a friend living in the UK to preorder it for me, this way I don't have to pay an over inflated price.
