Happy Holidays, everyone! 🎄❤️

Thank you to anyone who sent Christmas Lights so far! I will be sending out my own tomorrow, hopefully! I'm also very happy to be part of the Gingerbread Gang this year! 🍪

I will say that there is one thing I'm not particularly comfortable with, which is why I started out the post saying that it's a mostly welcome update. I noticed the mention of prohibiting political discussion. I can understand some of the appeal of this, but we are also in unprecedented times and being able to spread awareness of issues that can affect, have affected, and/or will affect members of the community and/or their loved ones feels valuable and important to me. From matters like US program cuts that can affect affordable food, housing, health care etc., to tariffs, to the censoring of the Internet like in the UK's Online Safety Act and which may come to the US in the forms of various bills like the Kids Online Safety Act. Heck, the Online Safety Act even directly affected the forum by making images hosted of imgur not work properly on the forum for members living in the UK. I know politics are a minefield, especially now, but prohibition feels like throwing the baby out with the bath water to me. I don't want to derail the thread though, so I might have to Contact the Staff if I think of more to say about it, though I've basically conveyed the gist of it. I'd also encourage anyone else with thoughts on this matter to follow suit and Contact the Staff (or whatever other method Staff prefers) instead of making this thread devolve into chaos.
I don't have anything concrete to add right now, but I did want to acknowledge that we've seen your feedback. If you do have anything else you want to share in the meantime, you're more than welcome to make a Contact the Staff thread at any point. ❤️

Excited for a sweet holiday event [: Just what I needed.

On the prohibition of political discussion thing: I completely understand why you've come to this decision but I don't love it too much. Maybe I'm biased bc my entire life revolves around politics, but I find that banning political discussions can make a community accidentally very welcoming to less than kind people who fly under the radar (until they don't).

Merry Christmas, everyone! Per TBT tradition, the 2025 limited edition candy cane is here!

This special sparkling starry blue candy cane, designed by TBT candymaker @Mistreil, can be picked up from the shop for just 1 bell. Be sure to add it to your inventory within two days of this post, because it will only be available for a limited time!

We have one more holiday announcement for you tonight: Our small New Year's event we have planned will now start one day later on Sunday, December 28th. This will give us a bit more time to get it ready during this busy season. See you then and happy holidays!
