Have lazy villagers always been this gross?

I feel they weren't. There are bits of their dialog in nh that i like but the rest of it is just......
If i wasn't going to boot my lazy villager because of his starter house, it would have been for this reason instead lol.

The excessive bug talk is definitely new to NH, I can't remember how just generally gross/slobby they were in older games but it does feel a little over the top sometimes in NH. :/ Like when you give them a shirt and they say it's stain resistant because they "spilled three different sauces on it and sucked them all out", just ugh, ew. I'm glad not many lazy designs appeal to me because I really do not connect with the personality in this game. 😂

I don't remember them being so gross in the gamecube Animal Crossing... They were usually just, well, lazy. They woke up later/stayed up late, they talked about laying around all day, maybe eating, etc. But nothing like the stuff they say in NH. I hate the one letter that mentions them licking food they spilt on the page (I have 2 lazy villagers in my town, so I get this one a lot). It really is super disgusting...

I love lazies! I don't really see them as being gross. More like childish and messy. It takes some really nasty stuff to gross me out though, I have a cat in real life with irritable bowl syndrome and lets just say... nothing grosses me out anymore 😅

I can't remember if it was stiches who sent me a letter saying he had rubbed mayo all over the letter for me to lick and I was like  and from that day I do not really read his mail anymore cause it has happened more than once.

I have OCD yet surprisingly the letters or dialogue about them spilling food on the letter or on their furniture doesn’t bother me (of course, if it showed it or if this was in RL, then i’d be disgusted by it). The bug talk bothers me; I have an aversion to bugs ><. I do love my lazies and want to keep them regardless (though I am contemplating replacing sherb with Dom since @Reneezombie’s Dom taunted me on her island and in her screenshots about letting my Dom leave XD).

The aggression of the cranky villagers was taken out of the older games and now put back in into the 'lazy' ones grossness

edit: i cant spell

I generally always loved the lazy personality. They're baby mamimals that are derpy and just want nummies in their tummies. The obsession with bugs, as many have already pointed out, is definitely a new thing added to NH, because not even in ACCF or NL did they talk about bugs. Mostly just food, and traveling to new places to try new food.

Tucker is my lazy boi in Magicant and tbh his fascination with bugs actually fits him very well because for one thing he's a woolly mammoth caveman living in a ramshackle jungle hut. Plus he loves spending time outdoors reading his book on entomology. And every now and again I catch him with fleas 😂 I do believe he passes them on to Gonzo because I've already caught 4 fleas off him in a short period of time.

But really, lazies aren't all that bad.

Honestly, the bug talk is just sort of quirky (if not a bit ominous) and doesn't feel very "lazy". I don't mind it too much, though, I just wish it weren't 90% of their dialogue. :(

But yeah, my main problem is with the letters that they spilt food on and licked, or mentioning they sucked stains out of a "crusty" shirt... it's pretty jarring to hear stuff like that coming out of a little patchwork bear.

I just love the fact that one of the first lines that Zucker gave me about his hotdog suit was that he put condiments on it. I know that it’s not exclusive to that outfit but I thought it was kinda funny. The lazy schtick doesn’t really bother me (and I think it would be hypocritical if I thought otherwise with my island rep’s theme...)

Were lazy villagers always as gross as they are in NH??? Like, I don't ever remember them being like "I had really good egg salad so I smeared some on this paper for you to taste it! Sorry I licked it a few times." until now. I swear, some of their dialogue/letters make me actually gag. Did they up the gross-out in NH or what?
They got really grungy in NH. They were never like this before. The NH team kind of doubled-down too hard on some of the personalities. Lazy only ever talks about being dirty and talking to bugs. Like Walker the other day commented how he fell asleep in his tub full of cereal and milk and it became a chunky paste. Nice...

I definitely don’t remember lazy villagers being dirty villagers in all the other older animal crossing games lol but I also have a bad memory so there’s that! I’m not fond of bugs at all in real life, but I don’t mind listening to the lazy ones ramble on and on about it everyday. No different then any other personality talking about the same thing day after day. I find a few of the lazy villagers to be cute so I can look past their unhygienic ways!

i’m not really grossed out by their dialogue but i am genuinely curious as to why they’ve become so obsessed with bugs; it’s starting to feel more like i’m conversing with a more childlike version of flick with the constant bug talk 🥴

homies keep mentioning that their houses are invested with bugs and they Don’t Care??? bro i just have to see one (1) spider and i’m gone

yes!! I understand that part of being lazy is also being a bit messy but the fact that they purposely give you something with food rubbed all over it because they think you'll enjoy it? hello??

I don't know. I think it fits them honestly. I think the dialogue probably fits specific lazies more than others. Like if there was two types of lazies (bug obsessed and food obsessed) would help probably than this, "let's roll the dice and see who we get today!"

I don't mind the bug thing as much. I mean the notion is gross; their house under a magnifying glass is probably horrifying, lol. Or what crime scene investigators use with the black light. Omg, can you imagine if we could flip a light to blacklight? I would die, lol. 😂

This thread reminded me of why I booted Rex out a long time ago. I haven't invited any lazy villager since then.

I got this letter with a present back in July.
