Hey y'all! I've been having some issues when I display my switch onto my television.

My TV flickers and glitches out constantly while playing any game on my Nintendo Switch or even when I am on the home screen. I thought at first it was a problem with the TV I was using in the living room because it's on the older side, but I recently got a new TV for myself and I am still having this problem. I do not have anything else plugged into the TV except for my switch and switching ports or cables has been ineffective.

Any help would be appreciated! I know I could send it to support eventually but with the current climate, that's not happening (yet).

Check your Switch‘s (Switches?) USB C port as well as the dock port. Might be that

I've heard of this problem before and it's almost always the HDMI cable going out but you say you've switched cables and still have the issue. We've also eliminated the tv as the problem as you've changed that.

Process of elimination says it's probably a loose connection on the HDMI out of your switch dock.

Have you been able to try a different Switch in the same dock? If it still did it then I'd bet money you need a new dock. I know some tech people. I'll ask them about other possible causes.

Ok I have some more advice. Apparently it can matter a good deal if you don't hook up the Switch in a certain order. Try doing it exactly this way:

  1. Connect AC Adapter to dock.
  2. Connect AC Adapter to wall.
  3. Connect HDMI to dock.
  4. Connect HDMI to TV.
  5. Insert switch into dock.
If this doesn't work spraying a blast of canned air into the HDMI slot on the dock is recommended.

Also I just read that some people have this issue with certain brands of tvs (Samsung was mentioned) when there are multiple hdmi wires going into the tv from different gaming systems. If this is the case try unplugging one of the other HDMI cables.

Awesome! I'll give that a shot and let you know of the results. Thank you!

I've tried the certain order method, it didn't work. Though when I recall, I never had this issue when a friend of mine connected his switch (admittedly on a different tv). I've had the seeking suspicion it was probably my dock anyway. I don't have compressed air at my house, though hopefully after the quarantine stuff I'll be able to try that.

Thank you so much for your help! I'm pretty shoddy with tech problems like this and your feedback is incredible! :D

Hi! Update on it since I accidentally figured it out--well, at least for me!

I changed my RGB range to "limited range" and now for the whole day I haven't had any glitching problems! I don't know if this is a permanent solution but it seems to have fixed it...

Well hey I'm glad something worked for you. Now if you start having issues again be sure to try the can of air before you go buying a whole new dock. Otherwise I hope you get to keep playing problem free.
