Getting rid of a rumor?

My villagers call my alt a bell-pincher even though she's broke. I'd like her to be called an individual because it fits with her character, but it's just been bell-pincher for weeks on end. All I do with her is repair paths messed up by special visitors/my dumb face accidentally kicking away a pattern.

It's driving me nuts! I only want to play my mayor, game! Have any of you successfully changed a rumor about you to something else on purpose?

According to the wiki, bell pincher just means you barely spend anything. Since she's broke, that makes perfect sense. I guess you'll want to shop some (not too much or you'll be a shopaholic) and never talk to anyone. Maybe you'll get individual that way but I can't promise anything.

Hopefully paying off the home loan helps her spend. I was also going to give her some furniture sets but I'll do this through Re-Tail instead.
Unless only the main street shops count, which means oh well maybe I'll do something different like gardening because I do not like bell-pincher.

I never liked the rumor thing either, so I got back at them in other ways.

Like writing a letter to them (that I know they'd eventually show me.), saying "I'm attempting to embarrass you by showing you this letter, but I'm just proving I'm an dipstick!"

Words to that effect. ^_^
