Getting pictures from villagers

Does anyone know if villagers still give you framed pictures of themselves at a certain friendship level (like they did in NL, not the picture you get from Harvey’s Island)

According to my Nook Miles app I’m true friends with three of my villagers but I haven’t received a picture from them which I thought might happen at that level. Even tried giving one of them a gift to see if I got it it return but nope. Anyone got any ideas?
