Exactly the attitude one does NOT want in someone entering the armed forces.
in what way do those two items correlate?
a mindset of i'm right you're wrong is one thing, but a set of personal morals about piracy has nothing to do with serving the military, imo. how do you figure?

I lol'd. Man, I love me some Sanford and Son. :3

On topic: It's not really pirating. If it's available people should be able to have access to it. DVDs are copies of theater movies (sometimes) and those aren't pirated. So why should this website be?

I actually had to read your reply to check I wasn't hallucinating over that reply.

That was the most ****ed up and ******** thing I've ever seen hit the internet, and I'm a gaia regular.

A person who believes they are "above the law" does not deserve the privilege/responsibility of defending/enforcing law.

Don't be ridiculous. DVDs that are "copies" of theater movies are clearly pirated; they violate copyright. Owners of such are in possession of stolen property, a crime. You are NOT entitled to view such stolen property because you have not legitimately paid for the content.

If you want to view a film, there are plenty of legitimate ways to do so that respect property rights and that do not break the law.

I think we should all let Liquefy PMS and ignore him while we talk. (considering he's been a ****in' idiot).

@Liquefy: That's like saying ''All because you lie once in life you shouldn't be allowed in heaven''. I've known people who ''commit crimes'' like pirating before but have become police officers. I know people who've dealt and taken drugs but are in the armed services. All because you commit a crime doesn't mean you shouldn't be allowed in. sure if it's something like MURDER but burning a DVD?

"I wanna join the army"
"Have you burnt a DVD before?"
"Yea.."
"OK YOUR NOT ALLOWED IN NEXT"

Get ****ing serious.

Look, if you don't agree with what Nic is posting, why are you wasting your time and energy on those who appreciate it and won't change their opinions, no matter what you say?

If a movie is released from the studio it was made from, like Dreamworks, it's not pirating. It's their movie and they can do whatever they want with it. / you misunderstood, I didn't mean a guy would go into the movie and videotape it then sell it. :\ I'm not that stupid to think that that wouldn't be pirating.

so let's play make-believe for a second, and say that there's a shortage of volunteers for our army in general, which brings back the draft.

in your opinion, someone who is otherwise fully capable and willing to serve their time in the army is to be passed by simply because they believe they're "above the law"?

in that case, i think a good chunk of america would become ineligible in one fell swoop. could just be my opinion, though.
i think you're trying to over-glorify the responsibility of enforcing the law (though honestly i've never in my personal lifetime seen the united states navy enforcing any law in their own country). while there is plenty to be envious of, there is some sense in what aeri just posted (as sad as that is).
consider every war america has been in, and war stories. were all of the enlisted clean cut, morally? were they all straight-arrow (so to speak), straight-shooting americans who embodied everything our nation stood for? obviously there were plenty of "bad apples" that were not fully in the right, if you want to be picky about it, but the very fact that they love, respect, and defend their country by putting their lives in danger is a huge item that i think you're missing, in exchange for "he hasn't followed every government rule completely so he shouldn't be able to join the army!"

i wish i knew (but am too lazy to learn/read) more about politics, so that i knew which kind of extremist view you have. cuz i have this funny feeling it's some bitterly strict way of life for you.

edit: also, i think it's worth mentioning (should've just mentioned this instead) the first days for america. if no one had thought themselves above the british empire, would any of us be here to defend our homes, today?

it's a bit of a different way to go, and no i'm not implying we should all start a country with nic as our president, but it is part of being an american (in my opinion) to have your own set of beliefs, and to follow through with them so long as they stand morally sound within yourself. if the army wouldn't accept him for using this site, i would say that's tough luck for the army. but that's just me.

So what, exactly, is your solution to "America's ineligibility?"

Silence, as advocated by Neo Bacon Boy, Aeri Tyaelaria, and Kylie?
Condonement, as advocated by Nic?
Complacency?

I am not afraid to call out Neo Bacon Boy on their hateful racism and homophobia and stand up to them when they attempt to spread their hate.
I am not afraid to call out Aeri Tyaelaria on their publicly confessed criminal behavior and stand up to them when they attempt to entice others to commit crimes.
I am not afraid to call out Kylie when they spread misinformation like "It's not really pirating."

What are YOU going to do, Psychonaut?
What is YOUR responsibility, Psychonaut?

what i am going to do is condone the behavior, not to be confused with encouraging it.
my responsibility to who/what, exactly?
my responsibility to the government is taxes.
my responsibility to my country is to be humble enough to fight for it if need be.
i'm not sure exactly what responsibilities you're talking about, i would be happy to reply if you could be clearer.

you seem to be avoiding my last post.
there is no quick & easy solution that one person can enforce to change how the system is, right now. you can try to be a lone ranger, vigilante, etc, but i have a bad feeling that your efforts will go unrewarded, other than an empty and tiresome life. not counting personal satisfaction, of course.

I ****ing DIED of laughing to this. You make it sound like a murder someone. OH LOOK THERES A GUY WHO GETS HIS STUFF FOR FREE!

Boo-****in'-hoo.

Liquefy grow the heck up and stop being an idiot. It's hardly breaking the ****ing worlds biggest laws. Plus I do believe if it's all for PERSONAL USAGE you're not commiting a major crime. It's only if your DISTRIBUTING and ENCOURAGING the crimes you're doing something major. I'm not encouraging ****. I made a thread asking people if they use Emulators or games consoles and I said on here this guy is TECHNICALLY pirating by getting stuff for free when it's supposed to be paid for.

Saw my name, and I take it "silence" means me not saying anything. I've been gone for the past four days for a reason that none of you will be previewed to.

Regardless, I actually agree with Liquefy on the matter of pirating being illegal. Not only that, but I believe it is morally wrong. Imagine you make a movie but only a few go see it. Those few spread the video of your movie across the internet for free. You, as a producer, lose money. Same with music, would you want something you worked hard on and something you expected to make money on out there for free where no one had to pay for it? You would lose money from that investment, if anything.

pirating = illegal, i agree

this thread and site are not necessarily pirating, however.
this thread and site are for circumventing a silly limitation on a download/filesharing site, which is not pirating in the sense of copyright infringement, but pirating in the sense of taking/sharing a premium status with people. what you do with that is your own responsibility.

if you download thousands of songs/videos, pirating, bad.
if you use it to share files with your friends that they've made or however, that's legal, aside from the sharing of the premium account status.

10 day bump

RapidShare links are back online I think, please correct me if I am wrong. Thank you.
