Feeling Ugly?

Say thank you too the bullies. They'll be surprised. And you will probably not be bullied a lot. :)

And be thankful that you are not in my best friends family, they're youngest daughter died. :(

Instead of focusing on the negative parts of you, try focusing on the positives. Look at your self, and tell yourself what you like about your looks. Trust me, it helps. It also helps if you ignore people and try to feel comfortable in your skin.

So, I will offer my perspective. Being physcially beautiful and being attractive are two different things. Truly.

I think amongst my circle of girlfriends when I was in my twenties, I was probably middle of the pack. Not terribly beautiful but not the ugliest. The girl that got hit on the most at bars, life of the party, the one everyone wanted to talk to because she was the "hub" (she knew everyone, she knew where all the parties were that weekend) was NOT the prettiest girl. In fact, she was a bit chunky and plain. But I think, without a doubt, the most "attractive". She was bubbly, vivacious, a real force of personality, charming, witty, smart, just about the most stylish girl we all knew... I could go on and on. And she outshone the rest of us all the time. :). I am probably making her sound like a b1tch, but really, she was sweet and nice and one of the few i still keep in touch with from that group.

I can tell you are still growing into yourself, but one day you will come to a place where you are very comfortable in your skin, and when you do, you will realize the power to make yourself attractive, not just to men (or women, if thats your orientation) but to just people in general, is within yourself.

Maybe this is lame, but just think of all the people even within the celebrity world who are not physically perfect, but you think, wow, that person is really attractive. They have appeal. (For some reason, I cant think of a current one, but Duchess of Windsor... Not pretty, but a dude gave up a Kingship for her, and she was charming and stylish her whole life).

Dont let petty people bully you into thinking you are ugly. You are not!

as someone who has and has always had really terrible self esteem, and as someone who has been bullied about my looks for years, the best advice i can give you is: LOVE YOURSELF
look in the mirror everyday and go 'damn i look SMOOOOKIN' even if you don't think its true. i thought this was silly at first but then i started thinking it without making myself think it
every time you catch a glimpse of yourself think 'ooooh yes i look damn fine today!!'
trust me, its isn't conceited or vain its just plain loving yourself
you're beautiful in every way you just have to look for it and believe yourself when you say you are
seriously you're amazingly gorgeous, those people who bullied you suck and are ugly on the inside
to quote Roald Dahl
"If a person has ugly thoughts, it begins to show on the face. And when that person has ugly thoughts every day, every week, every year, the face gets uglier and uglier until you can hardly bear to look at it.

A person who has good thoughts cannot ever be ugly. You can have a wonky nose and a crooked mouth and a double chin and stick-out teeth, but if you have good thoughts it will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely."
so start thinking those good thoughts, you'll get there eventually :)

I stopped feeling ugly once I saw how beauty standards change. It's skinny now, curvy the other and everything in between. Society is always changing what they feel is "beautiful", so I just said **** it. Why should I lower myself just because society has changes its standards once again?! NO, no more.

I am who I am, and no amount of self hating is going to change it. I try to look at my pros rather than cons.

Here is something you can all ways comfort yourself with.

If you are feeling ugly, you can at least refer your thoughts to me and say- wow, I am SO glad I'm not THAT guy.

Free of charge.

I'm sure you look fine! :)

Okayokayokayokay, I know how you feel. You honestly need to get comfortable in your own skin because, let's face it, you're gonna be stuck with it until the life-clock stops ticking.

First of all, people say you shouldn't change. This is very true in some ways, but there's times when it's okay to change and that's if it's for the right reasons. Change for you, and only you. If you're changing yourself because other people don't like your aesthetics or personality, then screw them. Do you live to please them? No. Or at least you shouldn't.

I'll also point out that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Honestly, I can go to a busy shopping centre; scope the area and not pick out a single person who I'd class as ugly. That might just be my own mind-set, but unless you look like this:

I've grown up with my self-esteem to the floor, and I'm still working on it myself.

By the way, just think, looks don't last forever. You could be a volcano, but one day the wrinkles will come out and the age will start to show a bit more. If people just like you for your looks, then they won't stick around when that happens. Personality can stay beautiful forever if you let it. So really, it means that you'll be keeping the friends who love you for you.

Lol, That pic made me laugh. Thanks :) I actually look like this :

Just wanted to thank everyone again!!! Your advice helped a lot.

If people are making fun of you for the way they look, they're just ignorant and will probably stay that way all their life. You have to just ignore them.

Who wants people that only like them because of their looks, anyway? That's not the kind of attention you want to attract. People will like you if you're generally a good and caring person, but sometimes it takes time for people to get close, so just be patient there. Work on your attitude. If you think you're ugly, that's far more damaging to your self esteem than other people deeming you "ugly".

Even if you are ugly, there are people more ugly than you. Be thankful you're not them! :)

This is pretty neat.

But yeah, don't worry about whether people think you're ugly or not. You can try dressing pretty and just do anything that makes you so beautiful and do it for yourself, not for them. It's more than enough if you think you're pretty. :) There are people that will think you're pretty and there would be others that would think otherwise, but that's how everyone is, we can't really do anything about how they think. And honestly, who even goes around not hanging out with "ugly people" -- it's always the fun and inside that counts??

I tend to dress pretty girly. I agree with you what on the inside is most important but it's fun to look good for yourself. lol

Aww...To be honest, when I walked around school, I see the prettiest girls and they don't seem to notice! I even hear them say they're ugly but they look great. You never know who could be jealous of you.

I know this one girl was SUPER jealous of me because of my body type (something I can't help!) I believe everyone's their worst critic, we're always so quick to point out things about ourselves lol.

We are all unique nobody is ugly okay, unless you post that on purpose to seek attention. Don't think negative, be positive (Bloodseeker's word of wisdom)

The insecure part is a girl thing. Most girls have it. ;) >.<

All of us can be insecure (Boys too)

I'm pretty sure it's a human thing, not a girl thing. A lot of my guy friends beat themselves up about their appearances, my boyfriend included (and my boyfriend is the most beautiful person in the world to me).

And as far as feeling ugly - chances are, you're not. I think if you focus on what makes you see yourself as ugly, you'll always think you're ugly. Think of other people: you may think some girl is the ugliest person you've ever seen, but to her significant other, she could look like a goddess. Or you may think someone is inhumanly beautiful, but when you ask someone else, they think that person is butt ugly. I believe in the saying "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder" because I think everyone is beautiful. Maybe not to me, maybe not to you, but someone finds that person beautiful in some way. Just because you don't think you're beautiful doesn't mean you're not to somebody else. And I do think you can feel pretty in more ways than people telling you you're attractive. Personally, I don't like it when people comment on my appearance because I always feel like they're just saying it to be nice. I feel the most attractive when I do things like do my hair differently than normal or wear nicer clothes or paint my fingernails and just put more time into my appearance in general.

Overall, I think you should do what makes YOU feel beautiful, not what society tells you should make you feel beautiful.

Same, only difference is that I don't care what ppl think of me. The problem is that I think I'm ugly myself, always have and always will. I'm not saying this because I'm depressed, it's a fact, just like when you see someone and you think they're ugly. There is nothing I like about myslef
