Fed up with the campsite

Anyone else feel this? The rate at which you actually get anyone at the campsite feels ridiculously low IMO. I wish Nintendo would up the frequency at which you get campsite villagers because this plot is just standing there empty 90% of the time (and making people want to TT who would ordinarily prefer not to.)

It also seems like a pretty pointless feature tbh whose only function is to allow you to get another villager. Yeah that's a great feature on the rare occasion you get someone you like in there. But that is its single solitary feature, other than that, there's no point to it being there - it doesn't bring anything special to the town.

I would like to see the campsite villager leave their tent and roam the island. I want to see them invite my neighbours to come and sing songs over the campfire. I want them to send me on an errand to get some fruit that you can't get from their own hometown, and get some little reward for doing it. I want them to do... anything really, anything that justifies their visit to the campsite at all, from an in-game perspective. Doing some of these things might actually sway a person into adopting a campsite villager that would otherwise have dismissed. How can they tell you what a great time they're having when they spend their entire camping holiday inside their tent?

You can play a minigame with them and win items! Even if I don't want to invite a villager to my island, I'll spend time playing the minigame for free items from them.

I ended up letting Puurl stay just because I was swayed be just repeatedly playing the games with her to keep her...

just give them minigames with the ability to get exclusive "camper" furniture or something

oh cool, I thought that was just for inviting

Nah, it's not just for inviting! They go "Hey, wanna play a game for my "insert item here"?" and then you can try and win it

Yeah I hate that you get one like maybe once a month if you're lucky, it's as bad as trying to get someone to move out naturally. Ughh.

i actually think they've upped the camper spawn rates compared to previous patches--there was a time i tt'd about a year's worth of days with literally zero campers, but recently i'd get around two in a month. i remember it being much more frequent on acnl though, so they definitely should try to match that instead of encouraging amiibos; the surprise factor probably weighs more than that.

definitely agree with your last statement though! i'm kinda surprised they didn't jump at the chance for more errand-centered interactions like pocket camp. hope they add more interactivity soon, though i think it's unlikely.

Yeah I normally get the free things off them too although normally it’s clothing that I wouldn’t use but all goes towards your catalog completion!

I actually thought they increased the odds cause I’ve had a camper once a week for the past month. But yeah it would be cool if they actually roamed around your town for the day kind of like an upgrade to having visitors in Main Street in New Leaf.

It would be cool if the villagers that come in randomly were like amiibo campers, occasionally asking you to craft them an item and giving you the DIY card if you don't have it.

Oh man, seriously they've actually upped the spawn rates? That sounds... awful lol. Yeah for a long time I thought you couldn't get a camper unless you had an open plot, because i NEVER got one, so I guess that explains that.

I get pushing amiibos, but at this rate they're ending up pushing counterfeit amiibos more than anything

And yeah that's exactly what I was thinking. After Pocket Camp, I was expecting the ACNH campsite to implement some cool features that came from Pocket Camp.

Nintendo already fixed this, I think two patches ago? Since the patch I’ve been getting a camper every 6-10 days.

Yeah so I guess it's 'fixed' but 6-10 is still a very low spawn rate 10-16%.

Once a week isn’t pretty bad, I think compared to NL, it’s more frequent. And btw, the greatest thing with the campsite in NH is being able to invite a camper even if you have a full town (they’ll choose someone random to kick out though) since that’s something we weren’t allowed to do back in NL. That’s why it serves more purpose now than in NL because in NL, I don’t even enter the camp if I have a full town because I’ll just be heartbroken.

I guess it's a matter of opinion/perspective, if I wasn't impatiently trying to get rid of several of my villagers I probably wouldn't be as dissatisfied with it as I am haha

But either way I still find the lack of camping features a let down after Pocket Camp.

Yeah it takes forever if you want to get a villager if your doing the personality trick to the point where it will probably take a year unless your super lucky to get all the villagers you want and even then they have to be all different personalities which really blows as at least for me I have a lot of overlapping personalities and it would never have all the villagers I would want by just doing the campsite method.

It would be nice to see them roam around the island too because a few times when a camper was at my campsite, I just didn't go to meet them because I was busy doing dailies and other things that I just plain out forgot about their existence and never met them or played their little game.

Speaking on their little game, it's not really that great, its a 1/2 or 1/4 chance to get a random clothing that usually isn't that great and you probably will just end up either storing it or selling it. New mini games would be great like maybe if they had a phone and there was a new app where you could do some sort of versus virtual game with them or bring them fruit like you said that their island didn't have, maybe a treasure hunt would be good too!

Other than them giving you some random clothing, they aren't that great and I would much rather Redd come to my island than a campsite visitor because they are only in one little spot doing nothing all day.

I have been getting them once a week or once every other week, while the rates are low I think the intention is for Amiibo usage or the NMT island hoping for villagers. I don't agree with it personally, I miss getting a camper every few days, but I think it keeps the event as an exciting moment. That is until you get an ugly villager

i really really wish the campsite was better, and more frequent. like, you're guaranteed a camper a week, or something, rather than it being entirely chance. i'm a (filthy) time traveler, and i've gone at least a month without receiving a camper.
on a different note, i don't like how the villager who shows up is based around which ones you don't have. like, sure, for those who use the campsite method, it's nice. but at the same time, it makes it to where i CONSTANTLY get uchi types, which arguably have the worst/most boring villagers in the game imo

I normally see types in the campsite that I already have usually peppy villagers despite having 1-2 peppys already, have also had a lazy villager in there despite already having lazy villagers. I don't have any smug or snooty villagers living on my island, and I've only seen 1 snooty in the campsite and the only smug was the one I was forced to adopt (who got booted out by amiibo asap!)
I know it's meant to be only a 60% chance or something but I feel like I'm constantly falling into the remaining 40%.

Luckily I'm not looking for any specific villagers, I just want someone different to what I have. I wouldn't mind a smug villager tbh but most of these are hideous not to my taste. :p
