Smash Bros Favorite Female Fighter in Sm4sh (updated poll)

I don't think Sheik is a female, to be honest. It would make sense because what better way to hide from somebody looking for a female than to become a man? That being said, there are a lot of characters in this poll who could qualify as male and many excluded entirely, so I'll just vote for Zelda, despite the fact Sheik is my favourite fighter.

No Sheik is a woman. Sheik is actually Zelda in the Ocarina of Time

Removing actual quote because spoilers.

Based on their entire comment, I'm pretty sure the person you quoted knows exactly who Shiek is.

That being said, I still disagree with their point, and would refer to Shiek as a woman.

Bill Trinen said:
"The definitive answer is that Sheik is a woman..."
Left the remaining bit out for spoiler reasons as well. I'm sure most people already know who she is, but if they don't, I won't be the one to ruin it.

There are multiple sources for this, but I'll just link one, because I'm lazy.
(spoilers in the source as well)

Can you even count something from nearly 2 decades ago for a well known game as a spoiler at this point?

That's like saying that Darth Vader being Luke's father is a spoiler.

I feel like Star Wars is more well-known overall.

That aside, I know a few Nintendo-lovers in the younger generations that like to experience things firsthand, and have a great appreciation for LoZ, so I don't want to be the one to ruin it for people who don't know yet. Yeah, the information is still easily accessible, but I feel like discovery is a big part of that series.

In any case, I didn't realize there was such a rift among people who already know her identity, in terms of whether she's female or male.

Fair enough point, though films in general being more mainstream probably has a lot to do with it. So adjusting accordingly, I'd say its about an even comparison.

And people are silly. Shouldn't of really come as a surprise or anything.

Oh yeah, Melee and Brawl already spoiled that.

And probably Sm4sh trophy descriptions too.

can zelda not turn into sheik anymore? I don't have sm4sh so I don't know anything.

No. Zelda/Sheik and Samus/Zero Suit Samus were split into their own separate fighters. Then as far as Pokemon Trainer goes, Squirtle and Ivysaur got kicked out, and Charizard graduated to a solo act.

Get your comic-sans ranting spam posts outta' here and go back to whining in the Cafe.

As for the thread, probably Peach/Rosalina since I don't really play the other games that the others are from.

Get your disgusting disproven Sheik theories out of here.

"These descriptions, however, are in the English-language version of the games only, with the original Japanese versions not using any female pronouns. Additionally, the Japanese official site uses 'seinen' to describe Sheik, meaning 'young man' (which can also be translated as 'wakamono', the descriptor Princess Ruto uses in Ocarina of Time). According to Bill Trinen of Nintendo of America, Sheik is female." says the Wiki. To discredit Bill Trinen, consider the fact that Bill Trinen is from Nintendo of America who has absolutely nothing to do with the original creation of Sheik. Bill is also the marketing manager of Nintendo which also has nothing to do with creating characters for games at all, therefore Sheik's gender can still be disputed. To my knowledge nothing else has been said by Nintendo regarding Sheik's gender.

Gnoggin made a video which sums it up nicely: Technically Shiek's female, at least according to NoA, but it's likely possible that she originally might have been male, apparently.

tbh, I'd think he'd have to get approval for saying stuff like this from higher-ups, so....
