Does size matter? (What!? What do you think I'm asking!?)

I mean, do you have a preference for bigger animals? Or do you like the pint-sized ones better? A mix of both? Why?

In Wild World and New Leaf, I liked the bigger animals like tigers, kangaroos and alligators. In New Horizons, I think I'm developing a fondness for small animals, in particular, pint-sized jocks. I had Jitters, a jock and a little bird, and he was so cute! The disparity between his size and his constant talk about big workouts and big muscles was endearing to me. Recently, I had Maelle move in. Then I caught Rolf and Maelle in a staring contest at the plaza. I loved it!

I think I like a mixture. Most of my favorites are medium sized - such as cats. I also like a lot of rabbits, squirrels and frogs. The bigger sized animals that I like are two hippos, two or more horses, two or three rhinos. I will say that I don’t like a lot of the big cats, though I admit some of them are growing on me like Bangle partially because of @WaileaNoRei (I just really enjoy hearing much she loves her and seeing screenshots 😊). Rolf because he happened to show up last time at my campsite and I thought he was pretty cool. Bianca is pretty cute too. I really don’t like any of the lions though; they seem to have really big heads and their faces look kinda weird to me. But this is subject to change since I continue to change my mind about a lot of them as I continue to hear people’s opinions and see screenshots. The only ones I probably won’t ever like are Violet, Rocket, Alli. :/ I really don’t like lipstick on villagers.

But now, as I type this, I guess I probably like the smaller villager designs better.

I like having a mix! My largest villager is Ursala the bear. It’s really funny seeing her talk to my shorter villagers like Hamphrey and Scoot. I currently have 3 large villagers (Cyd, Dizzy, Ursala), 4 medium sized (Erik, Tabby, Freya, Ken), and 3 small villagers (Scoot, Hamphrey, Jambette).

The bigger the better.

I like having a mixture too. It's funny to see my character have to crane their neck to look up or to peer down at the different villagers sizes, lol.

I like the little smol babies the best, I think they are adorable 😍

But I have quite a good mix of both on my island. Most of my favourite villagers are the tall ones. 😂

Yeah, I'm sometimes influenced too, by other players' screenshots of their residents. There are so many animals to meet! It's another reason I like visiting dream islands too, so I get to meet animals I've never had. (But I keep seeing Raymond. He's everywhere.) I like the big cats, but I agree the lions could have looked more attractive. The only lion I like is Rex. I've had him in New Leaf. But I might end up with an island full of lazy types if I'm not careful.

Rolf is love. I've had him in WW and NL. I didn't look for him specifically in NH but he turned up on a mystery island and I had to invite him. He's home.

I wonder if people see Maelle as wearing lipstick? She's a snooty, and definitely one of the less popular villagers. But I find her big-as-dinner-plate eyes, perfect bob and tiny size totally endearing. I've not met a snooty I like enough to keep but she may be the one.

Lipstick on animals... makes them look less like animals and more like humans? Personally I find it hard to relate to animals who look more human than animal in their makeup and outfits. Also, hair. I had Becky, a snooty chicken, for the first time. I remember thinking, hey, chickens don't have hair like that! It felt worse when she actually talked about her hair. Then again, I think I'm just prejudiced, because I like Maelle's hair and ducks don't have hair like that either. Even I can't explain my own preferences. :cautious:

I don't usually like "taller" villagers, except for wolves. Small villagers are just so cute in this game. I even like monkeys in New Horizons and I used to dislike them in past games.

I am likely a minority here. I don't like big and overwhelming animals. This is why I am not into bears or gorillas. They are straying away from "cuteness" which is my primary subject of taste. :)

I gravitate towards larger animals. Tigers and lions especially, but also alligators, some bears. Of course I have a lot of medium-size villagers, because that's what most species are.
I actually don't like the really little ones, like hamsters and cubs. They just don't make as much of an impression on me or something? I like more of a "where the wild things are" vibe on my island.

I had Jitters in New Leaf! I adore him! I loved hearing him talk about his massive biceps and quads despite his tiny wingspan and scrawny legs.

I enjoy both bigger and smaller animals. The diversity is nice. (: I've never thought about having a preference between the sizes though.

I don’t really have a preference regarding size of animals. However, some of the smaller villagers I have are well beyond adorable. 😘

i don't have a preference based on size alone, no. but, for me, the "bigger" species (alligator, hippo, rhino, tiger, lion, gorilla, elephant) tend to have the least appealing designs. the biggest villager i have is vivian but she isn't much bigger than the cats, who aren't much bigger than the dogs. the smallest would be ketchup. but most of my villagers are around the "medium" size.

All shapes and sizes are good as far as I'm concerned. It's nice to see differently sized animals interacting with each other, the contrast is pleasant. I don't know that I have a preference between big, small, or anything in between; it's who they are that matters.

I don't really have a preference, though I mostly have medium/large islanders right now. I love some of the bigger ones (Hornsby, Eloise) but also some smaller ones (My penguins (medium?) and Lyman, for example). Now that I think of it, I think I like not being the tallest on the island like the odd one out in an army of cats, bunnies, frogs and squirrels. 🤔

I think it does matter to me, but in a 'I want to have a mix/balance' kind of way. Of the villagers I have right now, I like that they are a mix of different sizes and animals. That makes my island fun for me.

If there's one size that matters for me, it's circumference. I am more drawn to chubby (round) villager designs like penguins, hamsters, and sheep then long, not round ones like the two horses or the eagle I had in the past. For medium sized villagers, I still like the round chubby designs best but there are also a few good designs that are less round, like Deirdre and Kidd that are now living in my town.

i don’t really have a preference. i do enjoy seeing the variety + the contrast in sizes is nice but i’ve never taken sizes into consideration when choosing my villagers nor has it ever really mattered to me aha c’:

I've always loved the hamsters, but in NH I've also been developing a soft spot for the bears so I'm gonna come out and say it - size doesn't matter! it's definitely not something I take into consideration when picking villagers, I more go off ~vibes~ and general look
