Does anyone else feel awkward leaving after a trade?

Because I do. It's like, I don't know what to say or do. I mean, of course I say 'thanks'. And of course I'm super friendly. But do I just go? Like, are you going to end the session, or am I going to have to walk my fat arse back to the train station? Sigh. Maybe it's just me. v-v'
I always tell people that I will end session. That is, unless they immediately run back to the train station, then I think to myself, Or you can do that, too.

Everyone I have visited recently ended session, but I imagine that if it seems the host will not, I would ask, 'Train or end?'

Mm... most of my visitors are for villagers being picked up from my cycling town. My dialog is almost always this:

"Got him/her?"

"Yay, I'll end then."

"Take care."

<ends session>

Heh, even though I ask for confirmation that the visitor got the villager, I always check the house afterward anyway.

Yeah I know the feeling but when that happens though I'll usually just ask if they'd prefer me to leave or to end. Sometimes the best way to make things less awkward is just to ask.

Most awkward trade moment for me was when I was just finishing a trade and someone else just randomly showed up just before I was going to save and end. They immediately started to walk around my town and I'm just standing there awkwardly. I think in the end I asked the person I was trading with if they'd like to stay and look around as well but they declined.

You should definitely use the chat. By the way, I LOVE your icon. <3

Thanks! Right back at ya :3

Do you guys greet the person that you're trading with, or do you just start trading as soon as you get there? I feel dumb as heck asking but I just don't want to be weird about it when I actually do it!

You just have to ask them to end it or else you'll both stand there awkwardly telling eachother bye over and over, one waiting for the end session, and the other for you to leave by train. Happened to me recently, unless they were just taking a little while to end it. Other than that I don't feel awkward, just lots of thank you and have a nice day and then I say bye, followed by a grateful wifi rating.

I like to say thank you and say goodbye properly, but I am slow at typng/keyboarding ... so lots of times i am standing there and it looks like i am just waiting for the person to end the session, but really, I am still typing my message! lol ... this is what I very often find awkward ... I have tried saying "Wait" while I type ... but have had the other person go "Whats wrong?" ... Yeah ... Im awkward ... so if any of y'all read this, remember ... The Pennifer is not just waiting for you to end ... she is trying to bloody type something! hahaha

I say hi, maybe a quick thanks, then get to it. :)

I just ask "end session?" right after the trade/adoption is over to see if the other person wants to leave right away or maybe stay and hang out a bit.99% of the time they just want to leave. If I'm the visitor I just wait for the host to decide how they want to end things. The only time I felt awkward after a trade/villager adoption was when I adopted Truffles from somebody on Tumblr.I waited for them to say something for what seemed like a really long time.I thought that maybe they were waiting for a tip so I was looking through my pockets and all I had was something like regular cherries and maybe a gyroid.

It's terrible when the conversation is sour on the forum but you have to act like yeah, thanks, bye.
Also, the limited ability to text is awful so you're having awkward moments where no one is talking or your waiting for the other person to reply or say something.
I also hate waiting to see if the person is ending the session or if I am supposed to be leaving via train.

I mostly only feel awkward as a visitor because I never know if the host is gonna end the session or not. But when I'm the host I always take a really long time to end the session because I say thank you and I'm a slow typer, so that's probably awkward for my visitors. I'm just not good at trades in general.

OMG...ha ha! I am a very fast typist, but on the stupid little 3DS pad the letters are off and my typos are numerous and all too common! So I'm busy trying to hurry up and erase and correct and all the while my little mayor is standing around looking all bee-stung stupid...

Btw, how are you, hon? (((HUG))) I hope you are better! <3

Thank you for the replies! I don't feel quite so intimidated anymore, since I get the general idea now. I just wasn't sure if like a lot of chatting was expected (or none). So a hi, thanks, and bye seems pretty good!

I used to worry, too, but now that everybody pretty much says the same thing here, I don't feel as intimidated anymore, either. Yeah, a hi, thanks, and bye seems to be all necessary. And a good Wifi Rating. :)

My first trade wasn't pretty awkward but I was worried I dropped the wrong amount of bells. I also got a voided villager as a surprise LOL but yea, sometimes. When you don't know if they're going to end the session or do you go back to the train station so its a little awkward silence after you say goodbye. I try to ask before we do the trade.

walk my fat arse back to the train station?
This made me laugh XD

If I was hosting the trade, I would say "Thanks" or "You're welcome", then say "Bye bye", wave to them, and end session.
If it was the other way around, I'd do the same and wait for them to end the session. I assumed that most people would know how to end session if they were going to trade and such.

From what I remember, I've had slightly awkward moments when trading in my own town. I usually type (or try to type) out "have a nice day!" or something similar, but due to the little keyboard being somewhat tedious to type on using the stylus at times, I end up taking a few extra seconds and then I see them walking towards the train station... I start to panic, and end up ending before they have the chance to leave themselves (and also because i'm too much of a lazy bum even in the game to close my gates afterwards... ////)

ahh... Regardless when or where it happens, whenever any slightly awkward moment does happen, I can't help but always tend to feel very flustered and embarrassed afterwards... /////

Truth.

Only thing is that I don't usually have my stylist, so I either type with my fingers or use the end of a random mascara wand next to my bed to type. That mascara wand is really mysterious since no one uses mascara in my house..
