I really like the actor they chose, because he's older, and hopefully the stories with him will be darker. To be honest, I'm a bit tired of all the romancy stuff, especially when it's that creepy story that a girl meets the doctor when she's a kid and then grows up to fall for him. Creepy.
Anyway, I still think it would be cool to have a poc as the Doctor, or a woman, but I wouldn't want Moffat anywhere near that.
I used to watch Doctor Who around the time Christopher Eccleston was The Doctor but I stopped around the middle of the new season with David Tennant and never got back into it (I was never a huge fan to begin with but I found it entertaining most of the time). I just found out yesterday that it would be Peter Capaldi playing The Doctors 12th iteration and I'm pretty excited. I have watched The Thick of It loads of times and it is definitely among my top ten favorite shows of all time, Capaldi was brilliant as Malcolm Tucker. I will be watching this Christmas special for sure!
