I feel like this should already be a thread and I do apologize if it already exists but I can't find it anywhere!

Do you time travel? What are your thoughts on it?

I was a strict no time traveler in New Leaf, but with so much focus on design in New Horizons, I on very rare occasions will skip ahead a day to speed up moving a building. Lately I've been tempted to time travel to a different season and play normally within it. Summertime allows for the most time to play, but I need those tree bounty recipes! However it feels almost sacrilege haha!

I never have because one of my favourite aspects of the game is the fact that it’s in realtime. I quite like that you have to wait for things and play throughout the year to fill the critterpedia.

I recently redesigned my whole island and it took 40 days to tear down and rebuild the 10 bridges and 10 ramps. It felt more satisfying than speeding through the process in an afternoon :)

I do time travel but not very often. Most of the time it’s when I miss an event. I will travel back to it since I usually work during the time they are held. I did time travel to get bugs that are available at late early morning times that I can’t play. I was having a hard time with some of the beetles.

I don't time travel when I first start the game, but after the first full year I usually do. I made an exception during the pandemic though since I worked such wonky hours that sometimes I didn't have time or the energy to log on daily or longer. So I would go back to days I missed, especially if there was an event.

Now I do it if I ordered stuff or whatever so I don't have to wait a full day when there's a 5 item limit between each different shop. Especially when I'm trying to decorate an outside part or a room and need a lot of different furniture or items that I don't have on hand. I'm not patient enough to wait for that.

I only time travel to speed up any construction that I have started or for my house to be updated completely. That is how I got all of the shops and Museum so quickly.

After the resident representative, I pretty much did the same with all the other alt villagers. And also I wasn't patient enough to wait a day for 5 items to come in mail and then repeat it until I've finished decorating a room. Especially when I was making a library room and the bookshelf diy took 5 books lol. I needed a handful so I just time traveled and finished in like 5 minutes opposed to 5 days.

I time travelled to get the balloon arches and do some events, that I missed. Right now I think I'm 2 weeks behind. I also changed the time because otherwise i miss mornings and a part of the day.

No because the realtime aspect of the game is part of the appeal for me. I want to see how everything happens normally. Also I'm scared of messing up my save somehow (probably wouldn't happen but just in case). Other people can play their game however they want though.

I've just come back to this game after a long hiatus. I don't time travel simply because I don't want to ruin game progression or burn myself out again. I don't care if other people do though.

In New Leaf I didn't time travel because of the fear of losing a favourite villager and NL also had actual progression and satisfaction unlike New Horizons where there's literally zero consequences of time travelling also there isn't much to progress besides finishing construction so I definitely time travelled in NH more than NL.

Yesss! I remember time traveling one time in NL because I wanted to update my dream address in a specific season, and when I returned back to the correct time my least favorite villager had moved out... I felt as though I had cheated in some way.

I try to keep it to a minimum now, but sometimes I've got something irl happening on a holiday and I can't squeeze in Animal Crossing time, lol. When I was really young with the Gamecube version, I was so dumb, that I would time travel constantly even for the smallest things, so when I opened the game again a few years back I couldn't figure out when the last time I ACTUALLY played it lol

Long-time time travel addict here. I'm a little ashamed to say I've never played any of the games as they were intended to be played LOL oopsies.

I can't help it too much tho, I'm an impatient person in general and I like to progress/get stuff done fast. Especially since I've restarted so many times by now. Whenever I make a new island I tell myself I'll work up to a certain point and stop time traveling, but I never end up stopping. (It at least hasn't happened yet)

I would like to be good with the next mainline game and play it normally but I know for a fact I'll get too impatient and end up TTing again so I can experience all the new stuff. 😭 However, I've been trying my best to really take my time and play for a couple hours before time traveling so I haven't been going too crazy. I mostly just time travel whenever I build a bridge/incline or move a building so I can work on the area around it.

My general opinion on time traveling is that anyone should be able to play the game how they want to. It doesn't really affect anyone but the player. I do appreciate those who are able to play the game day-today as intended because I definitely do not have the patience for that gameplay style myself, sadly. 😅

I don’t personally because I feel like it ruins the experience for me. I don’t care if others do though, I never understood with people who get upset when others time travel

I used to time travel all the time when I worked at my last job as I did late night shifts. I also would time travel if I missed a certain event or if I was trying to find particular items in the shops.
