recently i've been buying them because i'm too lazy to grab resources from storage/find them and then go through all the crafting sequences and such. plus, the designs are really cool. i love using the toy ones, i'm sad that it seems like all the variants are island based so you can only find some of them on other islands.. correct me if i'm wrong though please!
i remember that one time early on where i crafted a bunch of fishing rods and then didn't use them enough so they clogged up my storage, then i had to put them on the beach, and then i wanted kk to come to my island so i had to sell all of them... good times.
I just buy them, it's easier and quicker for me. I only craft them when it's late, the shop's closed and I don't have any spare tools left in my storage.
Also, colorful fishing reel is the best. It’s so bright and vibrant. I can’t go back to my lame DIY version— not even customization can make it this bold
I make equipment that only use like sticks and iron and whatnot (like fishing rods, nets, etc.) But I buy the rest because I'd rather use the hardwood for crafting lol
I hate crafting them so much that I just avoid using the tool if I notice I don't have one after nook's cranny closes. the materials are much more valuable to me than bells too, and I have no trees in my island at the moment so it's impossible for me to get more branches
I plan on eventually bulk buying hundreds and hundreds of branches and mass crafting tools for the achievement, but other than that I don't think I'm gonna craft one ever again lol
oh and also the buyable tools are just much cuter. I love customising outdoorsy tools to black
It depends. Sometimes I buy them when I like the look of them. Sometimes I craft them. Sometimes I buy the flimsy version and upgrade that at a workbench. It depends on what I am doing and if I want to be interrupted from doing it or not.
I always forget to customize the ones I can buy though, so they always end up breaking on me anyway.
I only bought the elephant watering can, customized it to pink and I use it as decoration next to my gardening area.
Otherwise I craft them all.
I might look into buying some just for kicks though.
I was buying them from the Nooklings after I had saved up a ton of bells since I was tired of crafting them all the time. Then I decided to start crafting them again until I get the achievement for crafting your own tools.
For now, I craft in bulk (at least five at a time), then I store the extras in my storage until I need them/my current tool breaks.
I buy my tools. I like the designs available at Nook's Cranny more, and you can customize them to get some extra uses out of them. I pretty much only have my Nook's Cranny tools break on me when I haven't been paying attention to how often I've been using a certain tool (my shovel in particular haha- I tend to buy two or three at a time).
I still craft mine. Surprisingly, I have never bought a tool at Nook's Cranny. The coloured and pattered designs are cute though, but I feel bad not using the resources I've been hoarding at home. It just feels natural at this point.
i mainly buy mine especially for the star nets and elephant water cans;; but i'll probably consider crafting them once the developers implement a feature to easily access the storage bc laziness lol
i like the designs of the fancy tools in nooks cranny, but i'm trying to do a split between buying them and crafting them. i still don't have all the nook miles for crafting/breaking tools because i've been customizing them and buying them so much.
I only resort to crafting them if the store is closed and I really, really want to use the tool I need.
I do get what they were going for with ingredients being a major part of the game but, honestly, I miss the permanent tools of the previous games, if only because the Golden Tools don't feel special at all now: they're gonna break and they don't have any benefits outside of lasting a bit longer and the golden watering can spawning golden roses.
I live for the elephant watering can and polka-dot shovels so I tend to buy them when I'm feeling too lazy to craft.
I no longer have a work bench inside my house because it clashed with the rest of it. Have to keep going outside to craft which makes me reluctant to do it.
I constantly find myself buying flimsy tools because it drives me nuts to enter my house to get the resources. But.. I finally cleared the trashed tools achievement so I guess I better get to crafting.
Just FYI, you can gift these tools to villagers and they'll use them instead of the standard ones. However, the downside is that they'll display them in their house, just like clothing or accessories.
