Do you mainly buy your tools at your upgraded Nook's Cranny, or craft them still?

It depends. Sometimes I buy them when I like the look of them. Sometimes I craft them. Sometimes I buy the flimsy version and upgrade that at a workbench. It depends on what I am doing and if I want to be interrupted from doing it or not.

I always forget to customize the ones I can buy though, so they always end up breaking on me anyway.

Wait I had no idea you could customize the buyable ones! That's actually a game changer! Marginally less reluctant to use one now

Just FYI, you can gift these tools to villagers and they'll use them instead of the standard ones. However, the downside is that they'll display them in their house, just like clothing or accessories.

That's cool! I'll keep that in mind.

I still craft my tools. After shaking so many trees for acorns and pinecones, I stopped using normal nets and fishing rods. I only use the flimsy variants now. I just carry a pile of sticks around and craft a new one when one breaks.

I still craft the better variants of the other tools since those usually last me a few days, compared to the fishing rod/net and I am not drowning in wood

I still craft tools, although I barely use them now. I don't think I've ever bought a tool from Nook's, for that matter. I like the DIY aspect of the game, so I continue to craft my tools (although it's a bit more time consuming). Having tool break is a kind of annoying thing, but I view it as an opportunity to interact with the DIY aspect of the game more.

I used to buy the lower tier ones and then upgrade them myself, but I prefer the stylized tools these days.

i only buy the shovels from nook's because i run through those so fast when i'm digging up clams and stuff. everything else i still craft!

Both. I make both types of axes (you can’t buy the stone ones anyway right?), and the other things I buy when I forget to customize and they break. The reason I buy tools is because I like how the purchased ones look. But I only like the colorful versions of the tools and also the star version of the net, so if any type of tool breaks on a day where nooks isn’t selling the variety that I like, then I craft a replacement.

I make them. I don't have all the tool related achievements yet, and I'm far too lazy to go to the shop and pick them up, even though they are very cute!

I just carry a workbench in my inventory and plop it down whenever I need a tool made. It's also a good way to use up my extra resources.

I craft them still. The only thing I would buy is the watering can if it's has a color I like. Generally my cheapness always wins out lol.

I'm too lazy to craft so I tend to buy my tools when it breaks. Although often times, I just customize it rather than buy.

I used to craft my tools, but then realized that you could buy non-filmsy versions of them and have been doing that ever since.
Less resources wasted, imo.

I buy them now because I get lazy to craft them again. Especially when my shovel breaks, I buy one there not by Diy.

I buy the upgraded tools and customise them to stop them from breaking. The look of them, and matching them to my outfit, makes the game a lot more fun to me. Fishing with a rubber ducky is a GAME CHANGER. The most important thing about AC to me is how time feels to spend, so... but I probably need to get back to crafting tools and letting them break eventually for achievements or something.

Tools I use:

• Printed-design shovel
• Elephant watering can (colourful watering can if I let it break by accident ;; btw these are what make customising the tools so fun... try it!)
• Colourful fishing rod
• Colourful slingshot
• Star net (btw, I accidentally gave one to Genji, and now he uses it - he looks so cute lugging it around! Afaik you can give them lots of custom tools, including a golden watering can)
• DIY stone axe and regular axe (I don't use either of these tools much), obv DIY ladder and StickThing

I buy all mine....though may bite the bullet one day and just mas craft a bunch of flimsy tools for the achievement.

I use the cute store bought ones and try to remember to customize it before it breaks. I'm not the best at judging that, so I buy a lot more than I should.

I craft the fishing rod, net, and the axe as well, I think, but the shovel and slingshot I buy from Nook's. My logic is that sticks are much easier to get than wood, and I casually get sticks all of the time, so tools made by sticks get crafted, while I save my wood for crafting other things.
