I have a few different residential areas and I live in one of them with three other villagers! I call it Book Club Hill because it's where Alice and Megan live, and they talk about books *a lot.* Nerds. <3
As a couple of others upthread have said, I just don't like the idea of all my villagers living in a separate residential area while I live really far away in luxurious isolation. I did that in New Leaf and really regretted it.
My villagers are scattered about the island either individually or in little neighborhoods and my house is nowhere near any of them. I'm on the peninsula next to my main street area with resident services, the museum and the shops..
My islander's house is close to town centre just behind resident services and a few steps away from the shops. My villagers' houses are spread out across the map!
Yes, I live near my villagers so I can see them immediately when I start up the game. While I always have control where to move houses, I want to set my own limits and work with what I've got. I don't want to be all by myself and have someone think I'm a lone wolf hehehe.
Nope, all of my villagers live in a neighbourhood on the west side of the island. I wanted to live in the more "natural" cliff-side area (where my forest is planted and weeds are allowed to grow), so I moved next to the campsite. This also allowed me to have an aesthetic for my yard and house exterior that was completely different than my villagers. They have simple picket fences with simpler yards, while I have a stone wall and a more English countryside feel to mine.
Nope! They all live on the western side, on a road to they kinda stretch over the entire side and I live on the eastern side, way back on a cliff! Did it like that because I wanted to have a big flower garden for hybrids close to my home, but I wanted all my villagers to have space too, so they wouldn't fit together. I also wanted my house to have more of a country farm feel, so that way it's better to have more space around it!
Nope. In NL my house was near them, but the minute I was able to craft the ladder and move buildings, I moved my house to the top of the highest cliff. i have my villagers spread out on my map and grouped based on personality & who they get along with.
I'm currently in the process of reorganizing all of the houses. I've been living on a cliff right in the middle of the residential area, so pretty close to all of my villagers, but now I'm busy scattering their homes all over the island. I did like my neighborhood setting, but it kind of blocked off the secret beach and also took a good portion of the island just for housing. I've decided to integrate the homes into different areas as this should give me more possibility to really use the space efficiantly. Right now it looks like I might end up living between Olaf and Chops; Gloria and Annalisa's houses would be the closest if I come up with another plan for the guys.
Yes! I have all my houses on the left of my map in a neighborhood. Some of them have their own yards, some have shared yards. I live in a "gated" area with Hamlet, Filbert, and Marshal but my house is placed different from them
Somewhat. I have a laid out community and my house is the mansion at the end of it. I wanted to be close to my villagers, but also have enough room to make my house look decked out.
My villagers aren't in one specific area, I like to have them set out sporadically around the map. I did, however, make sure Pierce's house was right next to mine. He's gonna be my neighbor and he's going to like it
Not really, I think. All my villagers live in a residential area at the back of my island. They live up on cliffs, 4 of them on the highest cliff, the remaining 6 on the cliff level under that. And I live on the ground level just a little bit away from the residential area BUT still in the way of my villagers foot traffic. I've noticed this way I still get to interact with them a lot while also being able to make my own home stand out
Besides as someone mentioned earlier, it's very convenient having a set residential area since you can quickly say your daily "hello" and see who is crafting ^.^
All of my neighbors live in town while I live up in the mountains as the "groundskeeper" haha. It was just better that way with my vision. Having 5 houses on each side really looked nice, mine would have stuck out too much.
Yes I do. All my villagers houses are on the south-west side of the island as a tight-knit village with yards for every house. I like it. It makes for a rural village look for the island with a good portion still wild and forested. Moreover, I always have a pattern every morning when I start playing. Once I'm out of my house, I always barge into my closest neighbours' yard (Gonzo) to see if he's awake and ready to chat.
I do not. I read a lot of advice around launch that turned out to be totally wrong but one 'tip' that proved its worth was: plant your house close to the center of the map. It's your point of entry to the game, you'll go back and forth a lot, you want the whole island to be easily accessible.
