Do you have any Dietary Restrictions?

If you don’t take joy in it while you can as it may change on you in the future.

I didn’t have any dietary problems until the last 3 or so years. Lactose is currently my biggest problem. Super annoying as dairy is in just about everything, though as long as it’s dairy with the lactose removed I’m fine. Ice cream is by far the worst offender so I have it so rarely anymore and the best brands around here are never lactose free. I also hate that dairy free is easier to find than lactose free. I don’t like most dairy alternatives at all though I’ve grown to be ok with almond milk in moderation.

I also have to avoid gluten though not because of gluten itself. More because North America fortifies basically all processed wheat with folic acid and I have a gene mutation where I cannot break down folic acid which then makes it near impossible for me to use the natural folate in foods if my body is crammed full of useless folic acid. I can buy non processed wheat from a local farm but basically anything made with wheat from a store or restaurant is a no go. I also learned last night that even some non wheat things are fortified with folic acid so I have to be careful like Rice Crispy cereal for instance. Only an organic brand of them didn’t have folic acid added. Wow.

No, luckily. I have a very very mild intolerance to something but I haven’t actually worked out for sure what it is. I have to avoid a few foods but it’s nothing major at all. I hope it all stays that way.

I can't eat grapefruit. It interacts with my medication. Annoying as I love it!

Kind of the opposite of a restriction, but I need to consume B12 in excess.

I don't really have any restrictions. My stomach may disagree with shrimp, but I love it too much to give it up anyway haha

I don't really have any strong restrictions, but I've suspected for the past 5 years or so I'm a bit lactose intolerant, so I generally try to limit the amount of dairy I have each day.

I don’t have any food allergies fortunately but in the last few years I have restricted red meat, basically eliminated it from my diet. About 5 or so years back I got diagnosed with gastroparesis (essentially a very slow stomach) so find red meats, along with a few other smaller foods, difficult to digest.

Similar to Chris, on the opposite side I’m supposed to eat a lot of potassium high foods (though I do take a lot of potassium tablets to help anyway) as I have very low levels usually of that.

I have a peanut allergy, and I have a problem with dairy (only for the last 3 or so years). I'm also a vegetarian by choice.

Any coffee/chocolate drink from coffee shops deeply affects my stomach. Learned it the hard way, someone gifted me iced coffee and I wasn’t able to even finish half of it. Got an absolutely horrible stomachache that made me skip duty for 2 days. 😭 Idk if if was the coffee but I’ve noticed lately that whenever I drink anything with coffee or chocolate, my stomach hates that. So I kinda steer away from those.

Very lactose intolerant. It makes it hard to eat anything with it bc so few pills help with the digestion on my system.

I must be careful about sugar or anything that raise my blood sugar. Like beets, grapes, cherries. I started having hypoglycemia around 18yo and if I eat something with too much sugar I get very sick. I can faint, vomit, etc.
I can't have too much caffeine either, and one regular coffee is already too much, I have no problem with acid or spicy food but caffeine burn my whole digestive system, and gives me headaches and nausea, and it's sad because I love it. Scallops are also a big no no, I got sick every time I ate one and symptoms also worse every time. Last time my head hurt so much, I vomited buckets and couldn't stand right. I heard later than my aunt and cousin were also getting sick with scallops. Not a restriction but have to take pills of magnesium every day, if I forget I get cramps and spams all over my body, headaches and have short breath.

no, fortunately. i actually have a feeling my body doesn't love lactose but that's never stopped me. a random one is i always get a crazy stomach ache after i have certain drinks with (i think) fake pineapple flavouring in? discovered this through the drink 'lilt' and i've had it with some similar things, but not sure exactly what causes it

I can't eat grapefruit either, which funny enough after the doctor told me I couldn't have it, I started to crave grapefruit

not really, i cant have coconut but thats easy to avoid. i thought i was developing lactose intolerance but i don't think i am?

my doctor suggested low gluten for thyroid reasons but i haven't tried it yet. i think i eat a lot of gluten, i'll have to pay more attention to that and change it around.

I don't really get along with coconut. I was somewhat allergic when I was younger but idk if that's changed. It's easy to avoid so it's not too bad.

For the most part I don't! In recent years I've noticed my body struggles with Frappuccinos from Starbucks no matter what kind it is, as drinking them leads to some stomach discomfort, so I've stopped drinking them entirely. I'm unsure why, as I didn't have a problem with them before and haven't had this problem with anything else. Otherwise I'm thankful not to have a known problem eating/drinking anything else!

I am sensitive to the majority of foods I eat. Nothing is a food allergy, but my stomach is bothered by a lot. There’s so many foods my stomach doesn’t like I don’t even know which ones cause it. If I went on an elimination diet I’d likely have to cut a good part of what I like to eat. I decided I’d just suffer through it.
