Do You Ever Have Second Thoughts on Your Island Name?

I’m super happy with it! Tsuchinoko after the chubby snake cryptid! It’s also my flag and I’ll be making a pond shaped like one soon! Sometimes I wish I had named it from a franchise I enjoy, like Uruk for Fate! But..... Tsuchinoko just makes me so giggly and happy as a concept!

mine is Kokoriset, but it was supposed to be Kokiriset. Like a place for the kokiri, from the legend of zelda, to set and relax, idk. I wanted for it related to be related to loz but I didn't want a basic name like hyrule. But I was so ecstasic when I made my island that I didn't even realized the typo. Oh well xD Kokoriset rolls of the tongue better anyway (right? RIGHT? 😭)

I don't regret naming my island Sunset. Yeah, it is super basic, but it actually makes a lot of sense considering I play mostly at evening/night

Mine is Kazakhstan I am fine with it because I am not that creative when it comes to this kinda design stuff

My town name is Lumaway, based off of super mario galaxy, and I LOVE it. My only regret is naming my island rep "starbit" because I want a sort of soft forest mixed with a little bit of "weird" theme and they don't really fit in, even if they are a shapeshifter!

Not me, but I have several friends who named their island versions of Coronavirus, like Corona, Covid-19, quarantina, things like that who absolutely hate it. One of them recently restarted.
I feel bad for anyone who actually wanted to name their island Corona as a reference to Tangled LOL but yeah, I always feel kinda weird when I see island names like that. I don’t find them funny and I wonder how many people who did it are gonna regret it and wish they could change it.

But to answer the OP’s question: Mine is Destiny like Destiny Island from Kingdom Hearts! I don’t regret it at all but I do wish I could add a suffix to it if I want so that the characters would actually call it Destiny Island—I always do in my head whenever they say it, anyway. I swear I heard about that being a thing in the Japanese version of the game but maybe I’m wrong, and if not I wonder why English doesn’t have it.

I think that about other island names I've seen while visiting or being visited (Pen Island, for example), but I love mine. I guess the only thing I should have done was separate it into Ex and Isle, instead of calling it ExIsle.

definitely easier to say for me, it hurts to say kokiri

my island name is sunfall, and while i think it's okay, i do sometimes wish there was a possibility to rename our islands. if there was, i'd like to change mine to either mementos or midsummer/midsommar i've never seen the movie btw, i just like the word aha

I loathe my town name, which is Luna. I got the game late at night, and I saw the moon. I’m a native spanish speaker and Luna means moon in english, so thats what I named it. Its beyond stupid and I regret it everyday. I wish I could change my islands name to Farm. To make it even worse, i also mispelled my own name

Nope. I used the same name that I had in New Leaf, which was Einstök. Since my brother and I are sharing New Horizons, I asked what he wanted to name the island. I already had Einstök in mind, but I wanted to see if he wanting something else. We stuck with the name.

Nope!
But I had like a full spreadsheet of name possibilities that I narrowed down over the span of about 2-3 months before the game was even released because I be like that.

In the end it came down to Briar Bay or Acacia Bay and I would’ve been happy with either honestly.
Settled on Briar Bay because I like that ever so slightly whimsical vibe it gives off paired with my IGN~

My biggest fear was doing what I did in NL when I was like 13 naming my town freaking “Lundy” which I hated and ended up resetting 2 years in because of it. Could not handle that stress twice in my life lol

Nope Darwin is a great town and the island is shaping up nicely my town name in all AC games going forward .

I initially did, since I called my island AUO. Since it was a nod to Gilgamesh, I figured later it probably would have been better if I named it Uruk or Babylonia... but honestly, now I've come to like it a lot! 😊
