Do you care what their houses look like?

When choosing villagers, do you care what their houses look like?

Personally, I don’t care what their houses look like. I like my villagers to be able to express themselves, even if it means Goldie has a bonfire in her house.

I’m wondering how other people feel about this.

not at all! i don't know what most villager's houses look like and if i'm island hopping i'm not going to take the time to search up a picture before adopting somebody. i can understand caring about the exterior if you're trying to build a specific vibe on your island but personally it doesn't bother me!

When choosing villagers, I don't much care. If they have a nice house it's a bonus. But if I don't like their interior, I'll try to gift them items to try to fix it. Rarely works.

Interior is what matters to me when picking villagers. I don't like villager homes where it has a outdoor theme that makes no sense to me. I mean seriously why would you have an outside theme inside a home when its suppose to be outside? That is such an Animal Crossing Logic to me. So when I see a villager that has a proper interior that is meant to be inside of a home then I would let them move.

Thats usually how I pick villagers whenever I go villager hunting. I see the villager, look up their name on the Internet to see what their home looks like, if it looks really good then I will invite them, if not then I will skip and move onto the next villager.

The interiors don't bother me, because I honestly never visit with my villagers (oops lol).

I am bothered by some of the exteriors...but that has more to do with my own poor map layout, and not taking the time to customize the spaces better for my houses. I currently have all of them in one little neighborhood...and it's a top priority of mine to move them and give them unique spaces (I just hate the work involved).

Nope, don't care either way. I still have three of my five starter villagers and their houses are typically seen as awful (although the only one I dislike is Cherry's/the sisterly starter home - but I can live with it).

That said, a villager with a cool house is always a bonus!

I selected that both matter because I run a dictatorship I don't want to say that it matters THE MOST, but if a villager has a really awful house it does bother me not gonna lie.

As far as exterior goes my only consideration is that I don't have too many villagers with houses are too similar. I like everyone to be different. For interior though I can't help but view it as a reflection of the villager personality so when I hate the house it makes me feel like I can't click with them. For one example Phobe, I wanted to try her out on my island but I hate her weird lava house so I just can't.

I'm definitely a stickler for exterior houses. The interiors don't necessarily bother me as much if they're different--cus I don't always go into the villager houses anyway (unless I feel like it). But tbh, I like all my villager's interiors even if they don't all match my autumn theme, haha. I've basically compiled my dreamies based on personality, appearance, animal type, and house exterior.

i don't care about either really. would it be nice if they didn't clutter their houses with fish/bugs/clothes? yes, but i'm not one of those people who won't gift/sell them anything to avoid it or aggressively do [insert strategy] to essentially reset their interior. the villagers are my neighbors and my friends, not another thing for me to control or decorate how i see fit.

Not at all. I don't choose villagers based on their houses, and once they're on my island, I don't care about them placing things in their house that I didn't choose for them, such as bugs/fish etc.

When choosing, I don't care that much, although the exterior is definitely more important to me than the interior. If I really like the villager, I will usually try and make their exterior work, but there are exceptions.
As for intererior, I feel like a lot of houses don't look that great to begin with. Olivia and Chops for example have some fancy looking furniture, but that's it, and their places initially had no personality or warmth to them. Olivia's looks fine now after I gifted her some potted plants, but Chops adopted a sea bass which is way too big and just makes the whole place look even worse. Felicity's interior is kind of weird, it looks like a very artificial park and I'm not fond of it at all. Groucho used to have an okay interior, but for some reason he gifted me all of his decor and everything I tried to gift him back, he just placed on the floor instead of on the empty table.
I try to tell myself that they have to live in these houses, not me, so I try not to care too much. However, I usually refuse to give them random stuff from my inventory that they ask for because incidents like that are the reason why Gloria now has a traffic cone in her house.

Ah this thread speaks my heart. But yes, I do care both of what their house interior and exterior look like. I would say exterior look plays a bigger role, and sometimes singlehandedly decides the fate of a villager on my island. Yes, I have kicked out past dreamies solely based on their house exteriors XD...This is because I’m very picky and insists on having villagers whose house exterior matches my island aesthetics. I look for color, style and consistency, as I’d like my island to be as coherent as possible. The interior doesn’t matter as much as exterior, but I have in the past kicked out Billy the goat because I really hated the trash flooring he has in his house. It just clashes so much with the vibe that I’m going for and I decided that it was too much for me to handle.

Over time I've made the choice not to let it bother me, though I do try to gift them items that fit their house. One thing I don't like when they replace or don't have a music player.

The exterior and interior both don’t matter to me. I was keeping their homes mostly original but after that update now they all have multiple clothing items on display. It’s not a huge deal but it looks messy. I’d never turn down a villager because of their house. Rocco is one of my favorite villagers and he also has one of my least favorite houses. The exterior is metal and the interior is construction themed.

Yes I care what their exteriors look like and prefer that they match my tropical jungle themed island. For example, I don't have anyone with overly urban or colorful decor and instead try to go for more muted colors, earthy tones, and overall "natural" looking houses. This does make my villager choices more limited, but I honestly don't mind since its already so hard to pick only 10 villagers!

I mainly care about the exterior. I dont like bright colorful houses. However, there are some interior houses that I just can’t deal with. Like penguins. I really don’t like their frozen interiors. Sure I get why they did it, but I just don’t like the frozen set.

The answer would be no, I don't care the looks of their houses. I like the variety of looks and decorations, sometimes mix and match things.

I don't really care at all about house exteriors.

I do care to some degree, however, about the interiors of villagers' homes. I tend to prefer that their houses actually look like, well, houses, something they can live in. That's not wholly necessary all the time because there are some great natural houses like Deirdre's, but those are usually exceptions. I also basically refuse to run errands, do deliveries, or catch fish or bugs for my villagers so as not to ruin their house's interior design. I have even purposefully skipped villager birthdays in the past because I didn't know what to give them as a birthday gift that they then wouldn't wreck their house with. In the past month or so I've learned of gifts I can give that they won't display, though, so I'll probably start participating in those whenever they roll around from now on.

I didn't used to care that much, but I absolutely wrecked my original Drago's house in New Leaf with a bunch of junk and then had to move a whole new one into a different town. I've been hesitant to give villagers stuff ever since, and it's especially unappealing to do so in New Horizons since we can no longer visit our villagers' homes at designated times and have the opportunity to buy the clothes they for some reason decided would make a good display piece.

When I choose villagers, I never check their houses first.

If they have a nice house it's a bonus. I still have both my starter villagers, and Louie honestly still has a sleeping bag. I'm slowly working Agnes into having a nice-ish house, and then I'll start on Louie, but there's only so much you can do.

It bothers me a little bit when a villager moves in and has the craftable furniture, like the simple bed with the plaid bedding. E.g. Nana. There's nothing wrong with it, but at the same time if you keep lots of your starter villagers, you could end up with a lot of them having the same bed.

Exterior doesn't worry me at all. I like to see both interior and exterior decorated in a way the villager likes because it shows off their personality a bit.

I kinda care about their houses. I won’t kick out a villager based on their house. A few of my favorites have like Hopper and Joey have houses I don’t like but won’t kick them out because of it.
