Do you care about your island's rating?

No not really, like yeah it's good to have a 5-star island for the lily of the valleys but I won't go out of my way to have a 5-star island just for that, I mean it'll just be 5-star eventually anyways once you're progressing with your island...

It's possible to progress your island beyond 5 stars, though.

My island is supposed to be a forest with clearings for various things...but mostly a forest.

As soon as I added shrubs as well as trees...I was back down to 4 stars.

It looks loads better for the look I'm going for though, so I can live with that.

My island has been a 4 stars for at least two months. I'd like to get that golden watering can eventually, but no rush.

I don't really care about the 5 stars as much as I really like the Lily of the Valley. Currently my island has a lot of decorations and it was fun designing it. However, I think I'll return my island to a more natural type of place, perhaps just a forest with very sparse decorations and just lots and lots of vegetation. Actually, I suppose how most animal crossing games were, but then with terraforming thrown in the mix

I really want a field with Lilies of the Valley though....

I believe my island is 5 stars currently, but I wasn't really trying to get it to 5 stars. I've got plans to use a lot of weeds, so I feel like as I continue to decorate the rest of my island it may drop from 5 stars and I'd be fine with that. If I'm happy with my island it doesn't really matter.

I used to care, but keeping items on the floor is just too convenient
I like having some DIY on the ground so that when people come over they can have a look at them
I do like the idea of having a 5 star island, and kept my island that way for quite a few weeks,
but it isn't really worth it once you have the gold can and as many jacobs flowers as you want/need

I’m only trying to get five stars to get the lily of the valley and other things that I may not know of when achieving that rating. Otherwise, I just don’t care. It’s impossible to please Isabelle anyways lol.

I just sort of got a 5 star island without specifically trying for it. I just like being able to get lily of the valley flowers now.

This is the same for me.

I was at 5 stars for a while but the way I want my island to look doesn't fit the game's idea of a 5 star island, so I'm happy to drop back down to 4 stars and have a better looking island.

I try to keep my island the way I like it looking, but I also want lily of the valleys to pop up so I wanna keep it up, every time I pick a piece of furniture up I always feel the need to replace it somewhere to make up for it with my rating. I also really don't like using much fence (as much as needed for rating) so that's kinda annoying.
But when I get enough homegrown lily of the valleys I probably will stop caring and just do what ever I want, not caring about the rating like I do atm. ^^

Not concerned over the star rating (never check anymore). If my island is only four stars when it makes it to where I'm happy with how it looks, I'm not going to try and overhaul it to get five.

I do like the lily of the valley a lot though.

I've noticed certain ways people want to decorate their island (and often it's amazing ideas) affect the rating because of stupid reasons. So why sacrifice creativity because of strict guidelines? Get 5 stars to get your golden can and whatever and than go back to doing things your way.

Doesn't matter to me. I'm not going to cut down on the amount of trees or bridges, for example, so it can be five stars.

I did care at the start.. but once I hit 5 stars I didn't really care anymore.
I put star fragments down and everywhere so I went down to 4 stars and ever since then I just stopped checking xD
As long as it looks good that's all I care about.

I had 5 stars and then it dropped back to 4 (despite me not changing anything). My Island is so well-decorated that I think Isabelle is taking the concept of a "blind rating" far too literally.

At this point I don't care anymore. I have stuff dropped on the ground. plus I hate getting constant lily of the valleys. that was actually my main problem but now it shouldn't since I don't have free open areas on cliffs anymore

I didn't even notice that I'd reached a 5 star rating. I guess that says it all about how much I care about my island's rating.
