Do you care about only getting cute villagers and hate certain villagers for being "ugly"?

If you want my personal opinion I don't really care that much honestly and if you do care a lot about how you're villagers look then that's okay sonce theyre just video game characters. I just feel like sometimes people call villagers ugly when their designs aren't even that bad, like I still don't get why people call Katt ugly, her design is completely fine to me.

I believe some villagers are overhated for being unappealing for some players.

Katt is cool, Gigi has a nice design, and people also call my birthday twin Quillson ugly, and I really can't see why at all, even worse looking villagers exist.

Yeah, I feel like when people notice just 1 trait about a design they don't like they just immediately call it ugly.

Not really. None of my villagers have moved out because I like the quirky little community we have lol. Also a lot of the traits people find “ugly”, are actually cute. For example, some people are weirded out by Penelope’s “bow-ears” but I think they’re cute, and Tiffany is fashionable and has cool makeup.

Ugly is a personal opinion. (Beardo fan) But when playing new leaf, I don't really care who moves in since I can't really "choose" who moves in or leaves, and everyone will have their time in the town (a somewhat natural cycle). I mean I could with amiibo, but anyone, including favorites, could move out any time. I felt a lot more chosey about villagers in New Horizons and still would simply because you have alot more control. And it is easy to try to aim for a type of perceived perfection in New Horizons rather than a more loose or casual playrun, impo.

No and no. I'm more drawn to "cute" villagers because I personally like a lot of their designs and because I have fond memories with some of them, but I can say the same for plenty of "ugly" villagers as well. Katt, Hazel, Diva, Rilla, Coach, Bertha and Iggly are some of my favourite villagers; I'm also fond of Barold since we share a birthday, and Tabby because she's an old friend's favourite villager.

There's no such thing as an "ugly" villager imo; it's all subjective. Every villager is at least one person's favourite. There are of course villagers with designs I don't care for, but I don't hate any of them, nor do I judge anyone who does like those villagers. A villager's design also doesn't stop me from having them; I'm open to having every villager at least once, and I've grown to like a lot of villagers I didn't care for prior to having them because of it!

tldr; I like the villagers I like and I have the villagers I want to have.

I like some villagers that others consider ugly. I love Rodney - I think he’s adorable and not ugly at all, but that’s just my personal opinion . I used to not think he is cute but, he grew on me as I browsed the forums . I love Gaston; I had him in New Leaf and I initially didn’t like him but he ended up becoming a permanent villager because I grew attached to him. I think Hazel is cute too! These are just a few that I can think of atm.

Now the villagers I think are ugly are: Rocket, Violet, Alli, Naomi, & pretty much any villager that is wearing lipstick. That is just my opinion though .

I’m sure there are people that think they’re cute and there’s nothing wrong with that .

I don't really hold it against anyone if they think a character is ugly or doesn't like them. For example I kinda don't like Merry, something about her design turns me off, and yet she's really popular. On the other hand I like characters like Boris who I rarely ever hear about. Disliking something can be as simple as not liking 1 trait and that's completely fine.

So do I hate ugly villagers? Hate is a strong word but yes I do mind who I invite. But you would need to ask me which villagers I find ugly LOL

I don't really mind ugly villagers like Harry or Barold. I would never personally have them on my island but to each their own. The villagers I hate I have arguments with or had in the past. Elise is ugly but she was ugly to me in the past for not wanting to leave my NL town. So...I guess what I am saying is that ugliness is subjective and can mean different things to different people.

I always think having a mix is the best! My favourites, Bones and Merry, are both cute in my opinion but not super popular.

I always remember in New Leaf when I had Gloria move into my town. I thought she was ugly af and couldn’t stand her personality. When she finally decided to move out I was ecstatic - and then I remember realising that she was actually funny and I appreciated her.. and then realised I was actually sad she was going!

As others have said, Katt was also in my NL town and I also grew to appreciate her after initially not liking her much at all when she moved in. There’s a big variety of villagers for a reason, not everyone is going to be super cute or appealing to a large audience, but some people will be drawn to them and see their charm.

I don't mind "ugly" villagers because it's important to have a variety of designs to appeal to a broad audience. Someone's "cute" is someone else's "ugly".

I feel like a lot of the ones called ugly aren’t even bad. Admittedly, there are a handful I wouldn’t want on my island, but I don’t think I could bring myself to bully them. Even though they’re just lines of code, it just hurts.

i’m not sure if i’d call any of them objectively ugly; everyone just has different tastes! i personally have my own preferences that i look for when choosing villagers for my island :]

Ugly for me, but not for you maybe.
But some of them really disturb me. Tabby makes me fell uncomfortable, I can't meet her or welcome her on my island because her face is creepy. I can't meet her in the dark. Barold, I don't understand why. Why that face? Some villagers are pretty cute, or really cute and adorable, and he is. I just don't understand.
Al makes me uncomfortable as well.
But I love some other "ugly" villagers: Rocket comes immediately in my mind. Canberra as well.

I think beauty is subjective. We're not the same and I'm pretty sure some people love Barold or Tabby and others dislikes Marshall or Poppy. And that's completely fine and more of that, very nice!

I like to give all villagers a chance (except Moose...maybe that'll change one day). I dont really think any of them are "ugly."

The only character that has to stay in my village/town/island is Whitney as she's my favorite. Other than that, I like to change to who comes and goes. I think it adds some nice variety to the game. Plus, I can always remember residents by their photos. I found love for residents I never even looked at before this way, like my boy Hamphrey.

I honestly don't know what to vote lol. I obvi like villagers that I like, design wise and dislike ones I don't but whether they're generally considered "cute" or "ugly" doesn't matter to me. That said I do tend to agree with the consensus on most villagers popularity levels; It's just that I don't base my opinion off that.

I'm not sure what to vote. Yes and no? There are some villagers I am not a fan of, though I am not really feeling strongly about that. Also, some of the villagers I like aren't very popular.
