I feel like I might have wanted to make getting everyone's pic a thing personally, but I messed it up/didn't commit in time with my first move-out, Naomi, whom I never got the poster or the pic for. Good thing there are posters now, though! (edit to clarify: I appreciate the posters because they take no effort to get other than the villager lives on your island, whereas the pics are weeks of grinding if you choose to opt for that and I'd rather have the pic actually mean something regarding my friendship with a villager but that's just me)
So my game plan going forward is to get the posters of everyone who's ever been on my island (hoping to buy Naomi's off of someone here lol) but get the pics of the ones I ended up really liking. Or, since I don't deliberately grind for the pics, just whoever deems me worthy of them, which will probably be whoever remains a permanent resident.
I try, but I don't prevent them from leaving my island. I didn't start getting pics until last week. If I had waited until then, nobody would've rotated out and I would've been stuck with villagers I didn't care as much for longer.
i only have 7 villagers i'm keeping and i'm trying to get their pictures
but i change my mind a lot and i don't really care about the other 3 tbh
so i only get pictures of villagers i know will stay on my island forever ☆
I take the pictures as they come. I like pictures more now that they can be placed on walls Before, I felt like I didn't have space to display all the villagers I wanted
I recently decided to focus on getting villager pics! So far I have one (Tybalt <3) and since most of my villagers are permanent Im sure Ill get them all at some point but Im planning on having one rotating spot on my island where Ill bring in a random amiibo villager, get their photo and then rotate in a new one! Think itll be a good way to see new faces and continue getting new photos : D
I started like a month ago to "actively" implement that on my island. I have to get a villager's photo before he can move on to somewhere else.
I didn't do it at first because 1) I didn't know/remember it was a thing and 2) I had villagers I wanted out as soon as possible to get an "acceptable" starter rooster. Now I only have villagers I more or less chose, I'm happy to have them all, so I'll keep some of them as long as I can, and let others move once they've given me their pictures.
I’m collecting them all. Gifting them wrapped iron wall lamps makes it easy.
I only missed my starter peppy and lazy, but other than them, I have everyone else’s who has already moved out. On my island right now, I have everyone’s except Kabuki, Tangy and Bill. Just waiting on someone but my permies to ask about moving.
I'd like to have villager's pics of the ones I like, but it doesn't stop them from leaving if I don't get it. Although, recently I read that if they have a high friendship value with you they are more unlikely to ask to move out, so idk.
I’d love to get the picture of each villager (before they leave) but that isn’t really feasible with my playstyle.
I talk, send letters, or gift presents to my villagers when it feels right. As silly as it may sound, spamming actions to raise affection quickly just doesn’t mesh with my ideals in this game. I’d rather be surprised and feel like I naturally earned the reward than rush through the process.
Sure it’d be great to have them all (because I genuinely like every animal that’s moved to my Island so far), but I’m fine only unlocking high friendship with permanent residents and keeping screenshots as memories for the others.
I only want the pictures of ones I really like. So I’ve had a few leave without giving me their photo but everyone I currently have is locked in until I get it. Cherry just gave me hers yesterday and I’m in the process of moving Pashmina in. After I cycle through my amiibo cards at that point I’ll pick a permanent 10, for now everyone (even faves) will be leaving so I can get to know others.
I would try to get everyone's picture, but as a not time traveler, it would just take even longer for me to get the villagers that I want out out, so if they ask me to move before I get their picture, I will let them go.
I need to have everyone's photo before they leave. For me, it's their proof of residence on my island and show how many lived there at one point. I have yet to get a photo from any of my villagers yet.
I got everyone's pics besides Rowan's and Octavian's whom I let go.
Rowan moved out kind of early on and I got a bit impatient with Octavian having 3 crankies on my Island at the time so amiibo'ed him out.
Besides these two, so far the other villagers that moved on have given me their photos and I intend on keeping their photos in my house.
Not sure what the future entails. I'm trying to settle on a list of permanent residents at this point, but there are still some that might be just passing by so it depends when they want to leave naturally.
I want to get pics from my dreamies but I'm not really actively trying to get photos at the moment. Although, I did get a pic from Quilson today! My very first photo, and it's a little ironic it came from the villager I've historically hated the most in my town, although he's grown on me by now.
I try to get their pictures, but I’ll probably still let them go if they ask to leave before I’ve gotten their photo. I feel like it takes so long for villagers to ask to leave, and I enjoying getting to see and meet new villagers, so don’t currently plan to keep anyone permanently. So I worry that if they ask to go after they’ve been with me for quite a while then it’ll be waaayyy too long before they ask again if I tell them to stay.

Mint gave me her picture and I was happy because she's one of my favourite villager but I wouldn't like to have too much pictures from villagers though : it would take up too much space in my inventory ^^.
I'll probably try to get the pictures of the villagers I like before they leave, but I'm not too worried about it. I have a few of the new villagers so I'll maybe try a little bit harder for them, but since I can invite a lot of other villagers again by amiibo card it's not a big deal. I never actually display the pictures so in that case posters work just as well and they don't need to take up inventory space haha.
I haven't really tried to get the pictures of any of my villagers. To be honest, I haven't really cared that much about the villagers in my town. I used to care a lot about having a set list of dreamies, but I'm largely apathetic to who's on my island for now. Maybe that will change down the line, but I don't really care about villager pictures.
