Do you also get frustrated when island hopping?

I’ve been playing the game since the beginning of April and yesterday I decided to let go my very first villager(I forced out 2 more with amiibo before yesterday). I was like: well, why not going island hopping since I’ve not done for awhile? I had the possibility to print 30 tickets in total and I wanted a wolf. I would have been super happy with Chief, happy with Fang, Whitney and Freya, and happy with any other wolves except for Dobie. Started to hop from one island to the other, found only villager I didn’t like. Kept going until the 15th ticket because I was getting so frustrated that I really thought I was just wasting miles only to find horrible islands with villagers I wasn’t interested in. Not to mention I didn’t come across a single wolves. I don’t know if I’ll ever want to island hop again, definitely not with an idea in mind cause luck is not by my side. I’d rather let the plot fill naturally and just see who I get.

Yes, the complete randomness is very frustrating! You can go 20 tickets without a bearable villager, but then you find 3 good ones with one ticket each. Hopping for a handful of villagers is just impossible, you either get lucky but 99% of the time you just don't.

I hope you have better luck next time you island hop! Don't lose hope! Whenever I go island hopping I have at least 100 tickets ready because I don't trust my luck at all. It's really frustrating not to be able to find the ones you like but you'll get them eventually!

I was in the same situation today. I island hopped to find a snooty. I used approximately 15 tickets. I only found 2 females (2 peppies) 😵 And I found Knox twice !

Oh my gosh, 100 tickets? That’s remarkable! I could never get that number of NM cause I don’t trade and I don’t TT, but you are right, my luck is horrible so I might start saving more for the future

i honestly think it's kind of fun (you have a big purpose, a job you have to try to get done today), but also i haven't gone on a big grind at all yet- my longest run was 21 trips for a dreamie, and i'm sure if i had to do 100 i'd also get frustrated

i think i never felt frustration in island hopping, but that's mostly because i have multiple goals when island hopping besides finding a dreamie. getting a lot of diy bottles, knocking out rocks, etc etc ... for me, knowing i got rocks, diys, and the like to sell off and use makes up for the amount of tickets i would've had to use.

I’ve wasted hundreds of tickets looking for Goldie for my kid. I totally get frustrated.

For me it's fun for the first 5 or so tickets because it's like a gacha game. But then it starts to get tedious and frustrating when it takes so long to get to the next island, and only the unappealing villagers are showing up!

oh my god yes I hate this so much.

OMG SO RELATABLE I SWEAR IF I SEE CASHMERE AGAIN I WILL DESTROY ALL SHEEPS

I think what can make it frustrating is when you see repeated visitors. Like doing 15 islands and encountering Tipper twice and Zucker three times.

i do - it’s frustrating not finding your dream villagers and seeing essentially the same island over and over. but that makes it even more worthwhile imo when you finally stumble across a villager you like or a good island ;w;

EVERYONE has that one island that only has bad villagers, for me it's that dumb money rock island, although kind of fitting because Money rock island, guess who I found CASHmere

The only thing frustrating for me is having to print out the tickets one at a time. And I also only allow myself to go to four or five islands at a day to avoid burning out. If it wasn't meant to be so be it

I don’t mind it, mostly because I don’t feel any pressure when villager hunting. I usually collect diys and furniture drops from trees so I kind of like doing it. But I can understand why other people would be frustrated.

I would rather be resetting the game and plot resetting until the villagers I want show up like was possible in New Leaf, to be honest. I've had this game since the day it came out and have had garbage luck trying to find my first Lazy villager, Tucker. I've been at this hunt for weeks. I unlocked the Nook's Cranny upgrade and the Able Sisters in the time this has taken, and would like to finally upgrade Nook's tent into the town hall or whatever it's called in this game already. Saving up Nook Miles to go to the islands to end up seeing like the same 5 villagers show up all the time is ridiculous.

Haha! But that does sound tasty.
and you have the other two octopi so if the species roll lands on octopus then Zucker is the only option.
Yeah I hate it so much, Zucker SHOULD be tasty since he's like a dessert or something.

I betcha Audie's gonna eat when she sees the octopus stand next to her house tomorrow hahaha...
