do villagers move in the day after one moves out?

i have a villager that's in boxes/been picked up by someone so has the [moved out] sign on their door. i'm waiting to get my dreamie from someone, but i'm wondering - if i move ahead to the next day is it possible a villager will move in from the void/wifi etc?

guides say that in 2-4 days someone will move in, but has anyone had it happen the next day lol

also would it just be safer to clear my potentially occupied void someplace and then not trade with anyone or have wifi on, and then continue playing as i please, wifi-less (because villagers don't move in randomly at 9 count, right?)

it's been actually forever since i had anyone move out, that's why the 101 lols

No one will move in the day after. I've personally never had it happen to me.

i actually have had someone move in the day after and wasn't expecting it so i couldn't plot reset lol. it's only happened to me once iirc so i think it's unlikely.

villagers don't move in randomly when there's 9 but yea be careful about someone's void! if you wanna clear your void i have 10 ^^

Many don't have a villager move in the next day, but apparently, there is move out period.
Between 1-7 days, villagers have the possibility of moving in.
Each day has the chance increase, but by day 7, a random move in is always guaranteed.

At 9 villagers, a villager would NEVER move in, the only ways are the following...
Campsite invitation
Void
Invitation from another town
So... if one would only want 9 villagers, they must be cautious with these three things.

It's rare but possible especially if you let people (even the same people) come in and out of your town regularly
