Do Pokemon amiibos work in this game?

Since non-AC amiibos work in ACNL after update, I wonder if Pokemon amiibos (from Smash) work as well. I know they aren't compatible, but I want to know if they are compatible with AC? I can assume that not all amiibos would work, but Pokemon is a Nintendo franchise. I would like to get Pokemon items in ACNL.

Has anyone tried using a Pikachu amiibo or something after the update?

Not that I know of, at the very least they were not listed as so in the Direct.

As far as I know, only select Splatoon and LoZ Amiibo work at this point, but you never know. We could get more support later on.

I don't think so. Maybe wisp could say he has no idea what they are and cannot possess them. But you never know really.

Seems like for some reason they can't do Pokemon collaborations. It's a shame, because Pokemon is pretty much the only Nintendo series I'd like to see them do a collaboration with. I don't care much for the others. (I mean, I love Zelda, but having Zelda objects in Animal Crossing does nothing for me)

its so dumb i was so excited to scan in all my amiibo. hopefully but doubtfully they will update it to make other amiibos work (KIRBY GODDAMN IT). super unlikely tho
