Do amiibo cards work abroad?

I'm on holiday in America right now during my spring break and I've been getting lots of money cause I haven't seen everyone in so long and teenagers are pretty hard to get gifts for. I also got an amazon gift card but it only works in America so I'll have to use it while I'm here. I figured I'd buy some amiibo cards and figurines but they'd be American. Will they still work on an English ds? ^-^


I realise TBT isn't the most relevant place to ask this but I couldn't find the answer online (albeit I did like 1 minute of googling)

From what I've gathered, amiibo cards aren't locked to any region, so they should be just fine.

I'm not 100% sure, I only have one, but I think they can work in any region as well.

Just looked it up, According to IGN and Forbes, they're not locked.

i believe so. my figurine for felyne is a japanese import and it's fine. my welcome amiibo rv cards are all in japanese and i've only used one but it works just fine.

Yeah I've loads of JP amiibo cards that work fine. Also used to have imported amiibos and likewise so go buy by all means lol
