Cranky suggestions?

Hi all, I have just gotten a peppy into my island (Puddles!) which makes me super happy because I only need one more personality and that is the cranky one!

I am looking for recommendations of a cranky villager you think would be a great addition to an acnh island- more interested in hearing about the underrated villagers!

EDIT: If you happen to have your suggestion living in your island I am tipping 10 000 igb for a visit to get a feel for their design

I love cranky villagers, two of my favorites that I feel are underrated are Dobie and Del (especially Del).
Dobie is like an old wolf (I know all crankies act old, but some don't look it), so I imagine him being this old wolf with a lot of wisdom and stories to share with you as well as lot of maturity.
Del is a robot alligator, and I think robot villagers always look pretty cool. He even has the clank sounds when taking steps and his little black eye pupils turn a red color when doing a surprised or shock emotion.
 
really depends on you! I, personally, love Dobie the cranky wolf c: In ACNH, i just imagined him as the grandpa who finally gets to retire on a tropical island. Although I'll give design points to Apollo, Kabuki, and even Fang ^-^ they're cool villagers to have~

Yes I have been looking at Del as a possibility, he seems pretty cool. Dobie is also very sweet looking which makes his personality all the better lol!

Thank you for the input! Yesss Dobie definitely gives off some grandpa vibes and I love the fact he has a cranky personality to go with it. Kabuki is also a good option...
 
I love the wolf villagers a lot so I love Chief! He’s super cute imo, I also like Octavians art style but I know a lot don’t find him cute
 
I love Apollo and Wolfgang (and the cranky personality in general) since they're on my island, but despite being the same personality Apollo likes to sing sometimes while Wolfgang studies flowers and bugs. I think looking into their interests might help you decide too!
 
Boris is by far my favorite Cranky villager and was in my original town. Crankies in that game were incredibly prickly, but they reminded me of my older brother so I loved them lol. Boris is just a joy though. I always see him examining flowers and trees and his house is really cool in my opinion. :love:
 
If you’re looking for underrated I’d nominate Gaston or Vladimir. I have had great experiences with both of them! Gaston is a yellow bunny and may not be that good visually but he is a total sweetheart and Vladimir is a cute pink bear cub! What’s not to love!

Butch is def pretty cool also just have to say love your all cub town! I had an all cub town in NL so love seeing I'm not the only one who loves them!

Oh but Gaston is adorable! Vladimir is also a sweet little cranky pink guy
 
Apollo is a good one if you watched the Animal Crossing movie when you were younger.

My personal favorites are Butch, Apollo, Angus, and Chief.
Some less popular good ones are Cyd, Roscoe, Static, Bruce, Walt, etc.. there are a lot of cool crankies, it's hard for me to list just a couple hehe

Good luck choosing your grandpa--oh uh I mean cranky villager.

Wolfgang - very eye catching design.
Lobo - most badass looking wolf.
Bruce - great design, coolest deer and also very cute.
