Confused about Plot Resetting and Time Travel?

I have a question about TT and plot resetting. Every guide I read tells me to time travel to the day a villager is going to move in, but instead of entering the game with my mayor, I make a new character. How do I change the clock, then? My mayor is the one who changes the time, and when I click on her I can't back out. Also, my 3DS clock is 100% different that my game clock. Will that mess it up?

What I do is I set the clock to around 5:58 or 5:59 AM, and immediately quit the game. By the time you've waited a bit it should have rolled around to a new day.

Keep in mind that campsite villagers don't usually move in the very next day, it can take 1-3 days for them to move in.

If you set your 3ds clock to a day ahead, all it'll do is just push your game a day ahead. It won't change the date dramatically or anything. Good luck with plot resetting!
