Complaint clothing

It really is a shame that villagers don't revert to wearing their original clothing in New Leaf. Instead it's some generic gym tee. Which is dissappointing because if you have a villager like Mac(wears Red Aloha shirt)changes his clothing, you can't just file a complaint. No! Instead you have to get five unreorderable Red Aloha shirts send them to him in order for him to wear that shirt again!

In City Folk, they revert back to wearing their original clothing when you complain about it. Why did they exclude this from New Leaf?

I got Zucker and he lookes perfect with his original shirt. He got given another one and I can't do anything about until next season because he's a sophisticated octopus and only wears Gracie Grace.

The only thought I have behind why they did this was to give the villagers more of a personality. That's it, there's not really a point in it.
