Animal Crossing Deluxe mod

I've been playing this mod for a few days (Admittedly, my first time experiencing AC for the Gamecube too), and it's been a really lovely experience! All the QoL features make the game feel like it was made today!

I'm really glad this mod exists, I'll play this again and again until the people behind it eventually release a PC port of the game, then I'll switch to that! Weehehee

I'll have to give this a shot! I was always sad to see that development (seemingly?) halted on the fan translation of DnMe+ (I believe partially due to in-game keyboard difficulties) so this may be a cool way to play a "definitive" version of the game with stuff from e+ and the iQue version (which I actually didn't know existed until like last year haha)

Looking forward to it :) I'll update when I have played a bit

That sounds fun Id love to hear about it

It's a lot of fun! I've been running it on my desktop using RetroArch's Dolphin core, then using the Sunshine game streaming software and Moonlight WiiU to play it on a WiiU Gamepad. True widescreen support and the ability to disable acre screen transitions make it so nice to play!

wooooahhhhhh thats awesome

Im waiting to play it because my dad hasnt seen it yet and I want him to know if I change the town

By any chance, does anyone know if using this mod would require starting a new town/new save, or can an existing one be used?

you can overwrite saves, but that will mean your save will be aligned to that new patch and not original or older patches of deluxe. You could backup saves to see I guess. Its quite nice and the bugs are benign.

Hes on v0.2.8r2

*dont try to visit another town by train yet

To answer my earlier question and @havefun 's: I checked and it seems like you don't need to start a new save for the mod. However, starting with the mod means you get things like a choice of town maps (like in NL) and skin tone, plus the e+ villagers can move in from the start.

If you use an existing save, make sure to keep a backup because I don't think you can revert it back to the regular game once you've played it with the mod.

As an aside, the mod's saves are not compatible with ACSE, so make any changes before you play with the mod.

This will definitely become my go to way to play GCN Animal Crossing. Playing without acre transitions was initially a little jarring though. I hope they continue to add more QoL features as it's the only complaint I have about the original game.

Lately I've been itching to start a new town and really dig into all the unique features of this game (such as the GBA, maybe I'll even get a eReader) so this mod is a great reason to get that going.

The QoL changes are my #1 reason for wanting to play with this mod more. From what I've seen so far, you can now get fossils identified by Blathers!

I don't know if you know this, but at least one emulator *also* lets you emulate the GBA functionality iirc

i actually started a new save the other day and i downloaded this mod today! installation is very simple.

anyway, does anyone know if there is another way to save edit after installing this mod? or an alternative save editor than the one by cuyler? i was thinking about save editing but i didn’t realize that i couldn’t do it with a dx patched iso 😐

Edit: It has come to my attention theres been some added inappropriate dialog. I would reccomend that this project be steered away from because of it, even if it was one thing I found, its not family friendly.
Where's the dialog at specifically??? Can you please elaborate on that? I'm confused as to what you're saying here.

Wait, what inappropriate dialogue? I want context to see if I'm okay with that kind of thing.

Hi, mod developer here. I would love to know exactly what you encountered that you consider not family friendly? It's possible some dialogue got in through user submission (message of the week), or didn't land as intended. I would consider all dialogue added within Animal Crossing spec, especially because most of it is translated from Doubutsu no Mori e+!

Just wanted to chime in and say that I really appreciate the work you've done! I'm playing the mod and it's lovely! I played AC:GCN decades ago when it came out, but never got to experience the Animal Forest content, as it was exclusive to Japan. So, thank you very much! :)

Hey, I have had the perfect town for 2 Weeks and was expecting to get the golden axe as a reward but I got the golden watering can instead. How do I obtain the golden axe? I can't find anything about it online.
Edit: I love this mod btw. I've been playing it for 2 months straight now. The base game is fun on It's own but this mod adds huge improvements, I can't go back. Great work!

iirc it was changed to be a reward for buying a lot of saplings from Nook's shop. Not sure how many though, I haven't gotten it myself

wait so is it also compatible with e+ saves ?
and if so then does that also also mean that it's compatible with cuyler's custom villager tool ?
