Can't connect online in games/fc? 001-0502

I keep getting the error 001-0502 when trying to access my friend list and dream towns. Nintendo support says that there is a problem with eshop based on the code, but I can access the internet and shop perfectly fine. It's going online in games that's giving me trouble. I've tried searching how to fix it on Google (resetting, deleting all connections, waiting a day), but they don't seem to work. I believe it was working fine before the latest system update. What else should I do?

Oh that's what I meant by resetting. I reset the router. I'll try changing the DNS.

Changing the dns didn't help. Thanks for the suggestion though.
