Bug-off or fish-off?

I just prefer the way it has been since 2005.
You win based on size.

That always stressed me out a bit back then (although I believe I was a bit sensitive back then lol) so the change doesn’t bother me too much. I feel like we could’ve had a compromise where we had the timed missions for the smaller rewards alongside a size competition for the actual trophies.

The Bug rewards have the Spider Web and Termite Mound which I have realized are the most practical for decorating. The Fish rewards are very situational. I like the Anchor Statue and I put one near my pier but I dont need 20 of them...

My problem is I don't like timed events in games.
That's one reason I liked AC so much when I started WW in 2005.
It was relaxing.

It’s odd because I think that’s the opposite for most islands (oddly enough my island is an exception as my wilds benefit from bugs and termite mounds). I feel like more peeps have more use of nautical stuff over bug stuff.

I prefer the bug-off! I like catching bugs more than fish in general. It's less stressful to me and in most cases it's more forgiving as well. Bug catching is more fun overall in my opinion~

You would think that would be the case but still most CJs rewards are collectible relics that wil gather dust in storage...well at least mine. The best "nautical" items in my opinion are non-tourney items like the Mounted Marlin and Black Bass.

Most of the bug stuff I’ve gotten usually stay in storage (I only JUST got the idea to use termite mounds in my forest) whereas I didn’t have enough rewards from the first fishing tournament to do what I wanted. I guess it’s all to personal preferences.

I was going to say bug-off because I like the items better and I love the bugs, but it's gotten kind of boring now that I've collected most items (including duplicates)... so I don't really know.

i don’t really care for either, anymore, but i definitely prefer the bug-off! it’s easier to catch a lot of bugs within the time limit than fishing is. and the prizes are so cute, especially the butterflies wall and the trophies

I've only ever done the fish-off.. so I don't know which is better honestly, but I love the prizes for both of them

I like the Bug-Off, but I prefer the Fish Tourney prizes better. I like the Bug-Off prizes too, but I just found more use on the other.

bug off, which is ironic since i prefer fishing. my gripe with the fishing tourney is that you pretty much have to use fish bait if you want a decent score and not only is crafting it a tedious process, so is using it. fishing also relies heavily on listening whereas catching bugs doesn't so i can listen to music or watch a video when participating in the bug off.

I find the bug-off better since it is a lot easier to rack up a lot of points, whereas with the fishing tourney it feels like that unless you use fish bait, it takes a lot longer to get points. Plus I find it more fun to catch bugs than fish in general. Only thing fishing tourney has on the bug-off for me are the prizes, otherwise it's bug-off all the way.

I like catching bugs more than fish but my town (and a lot of my friends' towns) are not suitable for the bug off This is what happened the last time I did bug off with friends. Our scores sucked but we caught a lot of dorados for some reason, haha

For me, the Bug Off. With fishing, the random spawns plus having to avoid running towards the camera on the south beach to not scare off fishes make it less fun.

Contrasting that, the Bug Off is more fast-paced and strategic. I can get an easy head start by luring a butterfly into the plaza, taking to Flick, then catching it right as the timer starts.

On my island, there's many flowers around Mary's house so that's the main place I visit to catch spawned butterflies (and anything that crawls on the flowers themselves). I usually scare off everything else due to my prioritization of butterflies over anything else, but can catch 10 in 3 minutes on average.

I wish there were more Bug Offs as I'm more willing to do them.

To be honest, I love both events, but I ultimately voted for Fish Off because overall, I like the prize items a lot more than I like Bug Off's and I enjoy the extra challenge and surprise of fishing.

I can't tell you how many toy centipedes, cockroaches, and termite mounds I've sold during my Bug Off's and I gave Beau a centipede without seeing it for myself and I have regretted it ever since.

I do, however, really love the Bug Off shirt and the Artsinal Bug Cage.

I find both of the events pretty frustrating. The fishing tourney because the camera does not let you easily see the fish in the sea while running along the beach and because it takes a while to catch anything, so the scores are lower. The bug off because I usually end up catching a few dozen of the same two bugs which aren't worth anything.

The timer does make both of the events less enjoyable too, I didn't like the size system from the earlier games either but they could just as easily just count your running total for the entire day. The way it is set up now feels like they are kind of forcing the stopwatch mechanics into the game.

I think overall, the bug off may be a little more fun to do for me. I just voted fishing because I like the prizes slightly more.

Bug off because you can cheese it, but after the first one I never really felt like doing them again for the same prizes, I only played the first round of the others to get the nook miles stamps.

I am from the minority group then. I prefer fishing because you don't have to run around like a headless chicken.

I just pick a good spot, set my bait, and then fish to my heart's content.
